so with the new CDJ's 2 days away ive been looking for some USB sticks

now do i need a certain kind? or just any old thing off ebay like below V?

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Super-Slim-16GB- ... 20b365b734

(Cheapest ive found ^)

will they work with the 400's? or is there certain format types needed like fat32 etc...

or do people have recommendations? What do you use?

i want 16G for the extra headroom if needed and just for the sake of it....

and yeh i need 2 of them :)

cheers dennis, how come they are unstable? id hate to have 1 crash...

oh ok, i thought fat32 was the standard as it seems to be the most common :P and its an older format right?

well I have 2x 16gb ones here

what happens is you put say 4GB on it and the directories screw up

it comes out with jibberish words in that directory

say

E:\music\kafsratejags8ehsj\

now you try to delete that added directory and it will crash the system

so the most I will use on these small flash drives is 8GB

or I buy (which I have) a Solid state hard drive 64GB SATA

you can buy usb to sata plugs as well

so its all up to you, but its what happens

cheers dennis and hearts, ok i could settle for 8 Gig but really nothing under that....

but ill check out officeworks im sure they will carry bigger ones as well

Hearts wouldnt go to officeworks for computer gear they are NOT a proper Computer store....

to get real value go to a proper Computer store for better deals...

you wanna use officeworks then pay me what you buy it there for and i'll get it cheaper

have a nice day

yeh i tend to stear clear of it unless its an epic deal, haev bought about 10 items from there before, 2 were fucked n the rest were fine

maybe ill just buy 1 and see how it is....if its rubbish, ehh $18

thats why I deal with computer stores all over perth - I know where 90% get thier gear from and officeworks isnt one of them thats for sure....

wouldnt buy from them if you paid me too for computer gear

OFFICE stationary yes

I know this was about USB sticks, but I used to use USB sticks however now I use 2 x 250 GB external 2.5" HDD's - 1 for each deck. You need to use a special tool to format that size with FAT32 (and loose some space along the way... stupid FAT).

Cost around $100 from DSE. I've found it much better than swaping out USB sticks all the time. And, HDD's don't 'die' as often as USB sticks. No way would I do a gig with a USB stick without at least another 1 backup stick. I've just had these things die so often at random times it's not funny. I keep a backup of everything I put onto a USB stick somewhere else.
