pulsebeat Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 mate maybe its benificial to download the latest virtual djbut also go to into section and into yourself Quote
SourceRaver Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 Did the BCD come with drivers? If not down load, install and check for a switch or button on the BCD GUI that will activate the mic. Quote
Baimzo Posted August 24, 2010 Author Posted August 24, 2010 The BCD came with a driver which I have uploaded. I contacted Behringer and they sent me a link to download the latest driver which I have done. What is the BCD GUI and where will the button be located on the BCD. I think that might be the problem because when I slot the mic in, I don't press any button as the only ones I see are the MIC volume control, MIC Level & MIC Input, but they are not really buttons. There is probably a switch or button I don't see. Please tell me where it is located. Thanks everyone for your help so far. Begining to get somewhere. Quote
Buck_Choi Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 you probably already have but just in case have you checked the manualhttp://www.behringer.com/EN/Products/BC ... umentationfrom the picture i think the micraphone settings are on the top left corner =) and i know its silly but of course check the connections see if its in the right port fully in .. etc. Quote
SourceRaver Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 GUI = Graphic user interface Check out this site and look for the image that says 'control panel' (its a GUI):http://qualitydjequipment.blogspot.com/ ... oes-i.htmlDo you have access to this? It explains how to find it and all you may need to do is click on the MIC 'button'. Quote
SourceRaver Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 If all else fails and you think your mic is a dud, plug your headphones into the microphone socket and speak loudly into one cup. The will act like a microphone and if you can hear your voice, then its probably the mic thats buggered. Quote
Baimzo Posted August 24, 2010 Author Posted August 24, 2010 The Microphone settings is on the left and I have read the manual but it does not really say much. It just describes what the buttons are. Quote
Baimzo Posted August 24, 2010 Author Posted August 24, 2010 The link to the set up is very useful. When I go home I will definately try it. No wonder it worked once and then stoped working. Some other reviews I have read about the settings says it has to be on Standerd instead of Advanced because if you leave it on advanced, the BCD buttons will start playing up and you will have to be pressing them twice. Is this true at all? Anyway, I will try both when I go home this evening.I shall be letting you all know how I got on. In the main time, suggestions are still welcome. Thanks guys. Quote
Baimzo Posted August 24, 2010 Author Posted August 24, 2010 Sourceraver, I must say you have been very helpful. Thanks for your quick responses and detail information. Quote
eggssell Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 yeah mos def rep sourceraver the man with the knowledge Quote
DjDennis Posted August 25, 2010 Posted August 25, 2010 sounds like either a lead craped out or the mic is shot! Quote
Baimzo Posted August 25, 2010 Author Posted August 25, 2010 Hi Guys,Thanks for all your help yesterday. Unfortunately, I still did not get the mic to work. I changed the settings on BCD control panel from standerd to Advanced, and that brought its own problem of freezing and some buttons not working.I switched it back to Standerd setting, everything was working again apart from the mic. Behringer sent me the lastest driver which I have installed but that did not make any difference.Guys, is there any more settings I need to do in Virtual DJ menu apart from the one described in my original question?I don't know what to do, have almost given up and the MIC for that BCD is not easying available and cost me a lot for me not to be able to use it.It only worked the first time I bought it and I was so happy, but now, so frustrated. Thanks guys Quote
SourceRaver Posted August 25, 2010 Posted August 25, 2010 Probably best to have a look at the VDJ forums. Someone would have had the same problem no doubt. Quote
Baimzo Posted August 25, 2010 Author Posted August 25, 2010 I will try it and see. Don't know if there is just VDJ forum, but will look through Google.Thanks. Quote
DjDennis Posted August 25, 2010 Posted August 25, 2010 have you tried a few mics and different leads first ?? Quote
Baimzo Posted August 25, 2010 Author Posted August 25, 2010 NO. I only have one MIC and one Lead. If it was a common MIC, I could have easily maybe tried another one, but its those ones with the three pins. When I tap it, the light blips but just no sound coming out. Quote
SourceRaver Posted August 25, 2010 Posted August 25, 2010 Its probably not the case but is the mic a condensor mic? Some microphones requires a power source often refered to as phantom power. Sometimes you can put a batttery in these types of mics. Most (all?) Dj mixers and midi interfaces dont have phantom power. What brand/model of mic are you using?Yes...VDJ has a huge user forum and they arnt to friendly if they think your using an illegal copy of the software. If your using a demo copy, then some features have been deliberatley deactivated. Quote
DjDennis Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 see thats where you should have more than just one micif your doing a gig I always have backup just in casebut as you said that no sound comes out so thats your problem its the micI would invest in buying 2x more mics and a couple of leads so that if its just that one mic you can get it fixed or if its old just throw it away and use a new one that works........ Quote
Baimzo Posted August 26, 2010 Author Posted August 26, 2010 The MIC is called Behringer XM8500 bought with the Microphone Cable. The VDJ I am using is a legal copy. I contacted VDJ as well but they said its to do with the Behringer equipment and that I need to contact them. Even though I had already contacted behringer who sent me the latest driver, which didn't help anyway.I might probably return the MIC but for some reason I just don't think its anything to do with the MIC it self. It has worked before on two occasions and then stopped. I don't know; just confused. Quote
SourceRaver Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 The behringer mic is a standard vocal mic so no external power is needed. I assume you have an XLR (three prongs) to jack cord so that you can plug it into the midi controller.EDIT: I just realised the midi has a balanced input (three prong XLR) for the mic and not a jack so the headphone trick wont work.I'm bettin its the XLR cable itself or a simple software setting. Quote
Baimzo Posted August 26, 2010 Author Posted August 26, 2010 Yes, its the XLR three pins plug MIC. I have not tried the headphone but I will do when I go home tonight. DO you think the headphone pin will fix or work if I put it in one of the three holes? Quote
SourceRaver Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 Ouch!Just trolled the VDJ forum and found this (posted 19th August):"Is there support for the Mic on the BCD3000? I've seen posts almost 2 years old claiming it "could" take another year. That means that the team handling this request "should" have had plenty of time, however, that does not seem to be the case and there is no Mic support for this unit."Doesnt look good my friend...http://www.virtualdj.com/forums/111372/ ... search=mic bcd3000&page=1 Quote
