optim1st Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 Hi my name is Tim AkA SickAunt I have recently stepped outside of my lounge room and have realized its alot better playing in front of other people (wow who would of thought) About a month and a half ago I made the choice to follow a dream that was once hidden under neath my socks and jocks in the laundry basket and never thought to be possible. However after allot of dedication and mixing every day I was able to pump out a couple of demo's (soundcloud.com/sick-aunt) and broke into a new genre for, minimal so I could put to gether a deep harmonic mix and getting through an hour and a 1/2 set and that off gave me the best feeling ive ever had.Ive proven to myself that I can play and am hungry for the oportunity to do it again. Happy to open close what ever. I prefer to play electro, tech house however Im versitile in what I can play.Support muchly appreciated Quote
CBG Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 Sorry, no offence man, but why are you looking for international work? Have you played in front of a crowd... ever? International crowd is tough, they live and breath EDM over there. Quote
Skank Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 theres nothing wrong with aiming for the top man but its a very very very long road, your best bet is to be picked up by a record label or build up a huge following on the home front Quote
ChevChelios Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 You'll need to start making tunes if your gonna get "picked up" by a label and get any international work and it is not an easy task. Its very rare to get international DJs that dont make their own stuff. Also these days its rare to get signed to a label, you get your tracks signed, so pretty much your gonna need a lot of good releases and do a lot of promotion if your gonna make it anywhere. Quote
CBG Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 I'm willing to say it's IMPOSSIBLE to have any sort of a presence as a DJ if you don't produce Quote
ChevChelios Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 I dont think bang gang DJs make their own stuff Quote
cc Posted August 15, 2010 Posted August 15, 2010 they have done a couple of edits or track but they also released a mix cd as well....that's just as good really Quote
stevie85 Posted August 15, 2010 Posted August 15, 2010 bang gang are famous because of a fashion label. get famous then become a dj so then you have a following. become friends with people like daft punk and other musicians so they can help you make the music you need to release in order to get the gig. yes nearly impossible unless you make bangin tunes that get played by the big names....keep dreaming Quote
cc Posted August 15, 2010 Posted August 15, 2010 yeah i see you point! Keep postive though! Gus the hood rat is a really good dj i have seen him many a time and watched him like a hawke when he played at my work and he is good! Which is better than him being a knob with a bit of fame that can't mix at all!Dream big mate...why the hell not! Quote
optim1st Posted October 7, 2010 Author Posted October 7, 2010 The first bit, the international thing was a joke (for now) how ever was simply asking if any one of any where I can play. I put some demos together a lil while back www.soundcloud.com/sickauntslip and am about to put up my second lot.And on the production side of thing I have been playing with a few things but im still not happy enough to put my name on it.well I am about to start a promoting my self like a st kilda hooker over the next couple of weeks so hopefully i can drum up some work my self but in the mean time if any one needs someone to play......
