pill Posted August 7, 2010 Posted August 7, 2010 Getting more and more requests from clients to help out at the wedding ceremony as well, sometimes in areas without access to power.Wondering if anyone can recommend a wireless (battery powered) speaker, or a wireless UHF microphone reciever, and/or similar. Buck_Choi Posted August 7, 2010 Posted August 7, 2010 i think you can get passive speakers. which dont require a power point. although you do need to connect them into an amp. which does require a power point not sure about no power to a mic unless its a wired one straight into mixer. Quote
pill Posted August 7, 2010 Author Posted August 7, 2010 yeah i'd need something with an amp and battery built in to it. that's how the wireless ones come i think Quote
Buck_Choi Posted August 7, 2010 Posted August 7, 2010 i have no clue if you have no access to a power supply..best bet is to get a silent generator.. i know of them know nothing about them give it a read up Quote
stevie85 Posted August 7, 2010 Posted August 7, 2010 Hire a generator. done it a few times works a charm cost you somewhere around 100 a night. if its 30m away in the bush you wont hear anything. battery speakers are not gonna work for what you want. ask for an extension lead when hiring probably give you one anyway. try kenards or something easy Quote
DjDennis Posted August 7, 2010 Posted August 7, 2010 pill I'll have a look at what some use herebut basicly its the hire companies that do that more than us (the djs) Quote
SourceRaver Posted August 8, 2010 Posted August 8, 2010 http://www.matrixproductions.com.au/audio_prices.htmLook for a 'spruiker box', the come with a battery and sometimes even an additional speaker. Some have an inbuilt wireless mic and CD player. Most of them can also be pole mpounted. Quote
DjDennis Posted August 8, 2010 Posted August 8, 2010 Thanks Source - havent had time to look todayforgot about Matrix had themPill can grab that or pass the info onI gave up on having these because they break when you dont want them toook back to my cleaning up(shit I make a mess after a show) Quote
andythemusician Posted August 8, 2010 Posted August 8, 2010 You can get wireless gear that has wireless receivers. Think of what location camera crews use for the lapel microphones on reporters.Battery powered mixer is also feasible, I have a Behringer one that will take two 9v (one for phantom power). Never tried it though.Battery powered speakers are also around, but I haven't seen them since Primary school. Hell I'd probably consider rigging up a car battery and inverter instead of purchasing a battery powered speaker.Unless you knew you were going to get a decent return on the investment though, I'd rather opt for standard wireless gear and mains powered bins I knew I could rely on during gigs and productions. DjDennis Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 Trouble is Andy your not in Perth..thats where Pill is and he wont get gear (hire) from outside perth just for one show at a timelocal is the only waynow buying gear is totally different - he can see whats out there all over the place, so if he wants to buy that gear he can, but some just cost to much...anyway trouble is the distance between here and where u are just sucks if I cant hire local, I try buy from the closest (because of shipping)... pill Posted August 9, 2010 Author Posted August 9, 2010 For the cost of these units (1k plus for a decent one) it's just not worth buying it hey Quote
DjDennis Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 thats why I hire whats needed and charge more to the Client! Quote
