Skank Posted August 5, 2010 Author Posted August 5, 2010 fuck yeah u just earnt some rep i recon this is one of hes best Quote
eggssell Posted August 5, 2010 Posted August 5, 2010 west syyy-iddd fer shizure. pac all the way.peeps be hating on pac cuz all theyve seen was the weed head hate rantings, which dont get me wrong were pac. but if you look at anything before death row he absolutley kills it. especially the shock g produced stuff.not that there was anything wrong with all eyes on me, it was a good hip hop w/ some commercial stuff thrown in but he hada lot more to him than that.biggie was a clever rhymer which is why a lot of ppl rate him over pac, but pac was an intelligent rhyming workaholic. who would lay tracks down a million times which would allow him to refine his lyrics and also lay them over to have that posse effect but it was all him.and the coup de gras speaking of posses. listen to a biggie w/ junior mafia song; then listen to a tupac w/ outlawz (or even better when they were dramacydal) and hands down there is no arguement that the east coast crew sounds weak, poppy and lame.as good as biggie was, his beats from puffy never did him justice. wile pac had the likes of johnny j, shock g, dre and daz dillinger lacing him with the beats. chrismak Posted August 5, 2010 Posted August 5, 2010 I say they both kill all the commercial crap that comes out these days. Music genres hit their peak and then eventually get watered down to please the masses. You can still find some talent but its harder to find it amongst the shit. Quote
eggssell Posted August 5, 2010 Posted August 5, 2010 mr chris both were very commercially succesful. and you couldnt get any more commercial than puffy's bad boy records.i.e sample a classic, get some grrl to sing a catchy hook, add clever rap.i dont think selling well should represent selling out though. yeah pac got all caught up in his own struggle to fight everyone (just like bishop did in juice).and in terms of the new school, again jus because they finally back in the charts doesnt mean they suck. i rection cudi, wale, donnis, the cool kids, kid sister all have plenty to offer the genre and they sell well. eggssell Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 nice little comparison by the legendary shock G Quote
JonnyB Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 yeah dude, nas realesed illmatic when he was 18 i think? it has to be the single best album in the whole industry. plus he has better flow. not saying biggie is bad, biggie was sick, and id of loved to see what he would of come out with if he lived, but he didnt, neither did pac, nas did, and he has killed it with every track and album he has made. they dont call him the last real nigguh alive for nothing or the king of NY Quote
eggssell Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 i like nas, but i cant say i enjoy all his stuff that much.id go Murs anyday over Nas. like i could do whole Murs albums in a single sitting, definitely couldnt do that with nas.and thats a bigg call illmatic was the best album for hip hop? i dont know man. yes it is lyrically amazing. but personally (and this is a debate that has gone for over 15 years) if i had doggystyle and illmatic in front of me, id pop on doggystyle.and its easy to say yeah but snoop had dr dre. but you may remember when dr dre laft death row he hooked up with nas and created the firm. and where did that go? but yeah i think its a matter of opinion. nas and damien marley's collabo is still the shiznit though! eggssell Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 now you really got me thinking. because of musical ADD i dont ever really do repeat listenings or full album listenings. but yeah to call it the best album is a massive call because you cant ignore public enemy - it takes a nation of millions, shit even Apocalypse 91 is a killer albumwu tangs - 36 chamberscommon - be (everyone goes on about electric circus but i prefer be)lil waynes first album the block is hot. where he was only 16 and writing for an entire label (except juvenile) and they owned the billboard charts. with multiple albums and singles in the charts at the same time from the one label. and forget what you see now with guest spots on rnb songs, the dude was killer writer and lyricist, and the label had a great beat maker in mannie fresh (they only so so after he left). speaking of ghost writers, and what about straight outta compton. thing had everything from gangsta rap to boom bap to house rap (Something 2 Dance 2 was a killer dance rap song from 88 )yeah id be hard pressed to say which hip hop album is the best Quote
JonnyB Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 al comments previously posted in this thread are my own beleif and have no real facts, i state my view because to me Nas has been consitent in every track/album ive heard, where as people like biggie, 2pac, easy, dre, the rest of them, there is a number of songs i dont dig.there will be no end or finish to this discussion because everyone has different musical tastes.Nas was the first rapper i liked, and was the only rapper i liked for a long time, nothing else really appealed to me, which has changed now, i dig alot of other artists. especiialy big and Eazy Quote
