Buck_Choi Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 Hey Team, i'm a 22 year old girl and i think my bedroom banging is ready for a club. I don't think that's legal in Australia, try Amsterdam maybe? Lol . mean. Yeah as cbg said network as much as you can... and dont be like other female DJ's and use your looks to get yourself a spot.. unless you have the looks and the skills, that helps too Quote
Skank Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 Hey Team, i'm a 22 year old girl and i think my bedroom banging is ready for a club. I don't think that's legal in Australia, try Amsterdam maybe? haha man i laughed hard when i read thisnewaysi suggest you do 2 things1.find the club you wanna play at and face book it to find the promoter saying you wanna play and heres my latest demo 2 bring at least 10 people with you that will buy at least one drink on the night because unfortunately at the moment all the promoters r interested in is how many people the dj will bring in to the club Quote
callmeyo Posted August 4, 2010 Author Posted August 4, 2010 thanks for the tips.sounds good. i have plenty of friends keen for a beverage so that should be no problem.let me know hearts about any openings in Amsterdam sounds like youve been to a couple of those shows, lonely?keep it coming x Quote
Tomy Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 networking is a great place to start. find promoters add them to facebook and start kissing arse more or less. and Back it up with skills. Quote
Cupe Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 sounds like youve been to a couple of those shows, lonely?smashd by a girl hearts lol Quote
JonnyB Posted August 8, 2010 Posted August 8, 2010 let me know hearts about any openings in Amsterdam sounds like youve been to a couple of those shows, lonely?hahahaha, you.........you win.all of the above +ok um, make a demo cd that is based around the music you would like to play, but add in other elements to show that your not just stuck to the 1 genre. e.g. just say you like rnb, play some rnb, a fwe breaks, maybe some rnb influenced dubstep.or if your into dutch house, through in some jackinghouse, bit of fidget, possibly some electro/thrashy electro and a bit of dubstep to close it. and so on.be moddest, telling everyone how fricking awsome you are wont get you anywhere unless you have some solid proof, and if you do have the skills, being big headed about it is just gonna get you not very well likeddont stop bugging people find the promotors of the club on facebook and send them your mixtape, hassel them for a spot.once you get that spot though, its all about what you do behind the decks which is going to get you your next gig, if you get asked back, you should continue being asked back for a while. The only help we can offer in that field is practise(unless you ask a specific question) Quote

Lightsounds Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 I think the best advice I've had is to support the local nights that play the style of music you like and be friendly with the promoter it takes a lot of work to put on a party and more so if its a regular night.Don't be pushy show your face a bit and offer to help out with flyering / promo and then offer your mix. Generally the promoter will be sent tons of mixtapes but will be more inclined to put on someone who supports the night. When you get the gig bring your friends along and have fun Quote
GREMM1S Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 Not surprising we all know lightsounds is behind the times Haha gotta look at the last post date man two years ago heheThat said valid advice Quote
