lloydc Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 Wondering if anyone else knows of any labels offering a subscription service. I found out that minus (richie hawtins label) offers people a yearly subsription where they can download every release within that 12months.Just wondering if anyone else knows of any other labels doing the same thing? Skank Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 i think most labels do it but you still have to pay for the downloads Quote
DjDennis Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 of course - you get nothing for free these daysnot like the old days you would be sent 20x 12" Vinyl in the post once a monthnow its never done you buy it all or you dont buy at all Quote
eggssell Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 ummm well fools gold and mad decent usually put up 320KBS remixes of their current release (or even better Fools Gold will put up a mix of their current release you cant buy, i.e. only for the blog people) for free.ive asked before about the legality of using these to play seeing as they have been released by the label with no restrictions.i am guessing if it has an australian release (i.e. someone owns distribution rights) then you can't use it without paying, but surely those that have no distribution rights or as above arent actually released i.e. the remix has been sent out for free by the label, is yours to use as you like???answers to my query were either way then it got into a massive arguement and then we moved on because someone posted up something funny... DjDennis Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 see if we was in the USA I would say go for it but in Australia we have to watch what we do - they are changing laws all the time to bust people for illegal download useageeven iinet was taken to court for allowing movies to be downloaded on limewireso I say if its a record store online 9/10 times they are safe (but dont quote me on it)it gets more confusing if you are downloading and the mipi say no sorry your being illegal here is a $50,000 fine pay up or go to jailno thanks - thats why I still stay with CDs till I can say 100% that no one would be busted that thought they was doing the right thingtrouble is its the laws that keep being changed to stay up with whats being downloaded all the timeoh and we cant even buy from a place called www.promoonly.comits american and they cant sell to anyone in Australia because of our laws and thier laws i'll stay with cds for now! lloydc Posted August 3, 2010 Author Posted August 3, 2010 sorry, i should have said I paid subscriptions.... I wasn't looking for freebees Quote
eggssell Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 hey dennis. for the record AFACT lost i.e iinet was found to have done nothing wrong and breached no copyright. in fact AFACT was cautioned for trying to deceive the court.in regards to using the music for playing out yeah it would be a grey area and im sure if they wanted they'd pull out the most vaguest of laws to get you.on the other hand there is absolutely no way they could get you for illegal downlaods, as you would have received it from the owners of the copyright i.e. the record label?? DjDennis Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 Good thats a load off - if they did get iinetwho knows then I would also be outta job as well as out of an ISPwell best wait for whats happening with the laws that are a changing if you want to keep up with whats happeningone place to watch carefully is www.mipi.com.authats all I will say on this for now Quote

CBG Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 gd, Established DJs will be on lists, and they get sent out free music regularly. But its hard to get on them, and its hard to stay on them Quote
lloydc Posted August 4, 2010 Author Posted August 4, 2010 that rcrdlbl.com website is awesome.SO much stuff on there Quote
DjDennis Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 @CBG yes and once on say the indie lists, well you get loads more than normal djs will ever get (eg: free tickets to concerts, free records, downloads, etc etc) and depends if they do freebies to that, some tickets are valued over $400.00 not cheap like it use to be..A lot of concerts I was being sent I couldnt go, because 9/10 times I was bloody working, but thats life... you have to work to make a living, no job no dj, no dj no job - so yeah! lifes tough@lloydc wait till you get some great stuff (but there are also some crap you get but thats also life)enjoy! lloydc Posted August 4, 2010 Author Posted August 4, 2010 the bitrate of the music on that site is fairly low, but it gives me something to listen to at work.I know beatport has some sort of promo section, but that would be nearly impossible to get on. Quote

lloydc Posted August 4, 2010 Author Posted August 4, 2010 I doubt that will help, you gotta be a well known DJ to be part of beatport promo.ps. you look like claud vonstroke Quote
