lloydc
I've searched around the net for a few reviews, but didn't really find much.Just wondering if anyone has paid for a subscription to this site. It seems like it could be pretty good, and a step in the right direction for a production noob like myself.I would also like to have a look at a few alternatives as well. I'm sure there are a few sites similar to sonic academy out there, so any suggestions will be taken on board.
Cupe
This forum probably has a shitload of stepping stones for learning alot of what that site has to offerif it doesn't, ask the question
lloydc
what appealed to me were the videos that showed you exactly what to do. I'll definately have a hunt around here though.
CBG
I would fully recommend sonic academy mate... i still go back and watch there stuff. Its worth the money. Otherwise check out tom Cosm. www.cosm.co.nzAwesome guy, very smart, one of a kind. Thats proviiding you wan to use Ableton...Sonic academy does have other DAW tutorials, mainly Live though.Hope this helps
lloydc
it does, thanks. It's looking like i'll be using ableton. I'm going to d/l the demo tonight once I get home. The other alternative is to buy logic since i'll be using a mac.... seems like ableton is the way to go at this point though. CBG
i would recommend logic... as a sequencer. very niceAbleton' warp engine is fuckin unreal though. If it helps, most producers use Logic...Either way, both are great
Cupe
we need to get more video tuts on here aye
lloydc
stupid question, but:Is there an advantage in using one over the other for remixing? This would be the bulk of what i'd like to do in the beginning.
CBG
ableton is probably better for remixing. It's warp engine comes very handy for transposing acapellas.Plus you can produce DJ mixes on Ableton for professional purposes
lloydc
another question:does ableton come with sylenth?I was looking at the "how to make tech house" demo, and they were using sylenth... which happens to be $139 euro
CBG
nah man, you gotta d/l it and run it through the plugin browser. there are ways to use it, without paying....I heard....

ChevChelios
Ill never be able to get comfortable with a traditional DAW, so much of what I do is done in the session view I just get confused when Im faced with a blamk arrangement page
CBG
yeah im the opposite, arrangement for me. I guess thats why I dont mind logic. Each to their own aiii!
Tomy
yeah i use arrangment page not the clips page.
ChevChelios
thats just the way I learned how to use it, people coming from other daws would instinctively go to the arrange page but I never learnt on anything else.
