gcdj Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 So im hoping to plan an underage party on the goldcoast but am not 100% sure of everything ill need to organise. this is what i have thought of so far.-venue(friend owns an abandoned warehouse.Said he would let me use it for $400. Easily hold 500.i was hoping of cleaning out everything seeing as though its really really grubby such as syringes and shit. but not sure whether i would need any licences or something like that to be able to hold a big party there)-secruity-gear hire (already have a bit of my own gear such as small light rig of about 5 lights, 12 inch speakers.)-advertising-Portaloos- Drinks (red bull, coke and water seeing as though underage.)- having everyone sign wavers saying that any harm caused to themselves is their own faultCould anyone maybe give me an estimated cost of this. And tell me any troubles i could encounter Quote
CBG Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 I cant really help you with much of that. But I would love to play a set, I've got a sister up there i havent seen in nearly 12months that id love to see www.soundcloud.com/djnightblindAnyways, - Drinks arent a problem, as long as they're not alcoholic. - Security shouldnt be, secure corp are good,.- Portaloos, could be tricky. they need to be constantly monitored, maintenance and behavioural. Dont want the cops coming in and finding some fucker slingin pills in the toilets. not cool- advertising. Promoters. plenty of little buggers out there who'll do anything to get free entry and a little glory- gear hire. StoreDJ or DJ warehouse maybe? Dont know QLD. all up....$2k? I duno, big guess there Quote
Skank Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 i used to throw event like thisman i hate to say it but liability is a bitch, like im all for under 18's partys but even on private property you have to have some sort of public liability insurance. Im not saying you HAVE to but if shit goes wrong or the cops show up then youll have issues, you also have to consider the licencing of music to play live musicsomthing that might help you ALOT is getting the local PCYC involved they will provide staff and local government backing which would make your life easier Quote
FabDJ Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 You would need a permit from the Council for place of public entertainment.Temporary occupancy permitFire brigade permission, portable fire extinguishers, exit signs, emergency evacuation management plan. parking and parking attendants, maximum number of people permitted (1m sq. per person.) Health department approved toilet facilities. Food handlers licences.Advertising. marketing,security.electricity. etc..It would be a logistics nightmare but if you can pull it off, great fun. With the cumulative knowledge you will acquire after doing one event you should be well placed to make a career out of it. Quote
Buck_Choi Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 goodluck if you do get this going seems like a whole lot of planning needed to be done. Quote
gcdj Posted July 14, 2010 Author Posted July 14, 2010 looks like it would be easier to hire a ready to go venue. Quote

Buck_Choi Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 your best of calling up and asking. but your prob better off renting a proper venue with all the facilities Quote
FabDJ Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 Have it at someones house/farm, private partyNo permits required. 500 people is no problem Done it often at my house on standard quarter acre block. Police will close it down about 12-1am regardless. Quote
FabDJ Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 Dont charge any money or its back to Temp occ permit stage. If something goes wrong and you have charged admission you will be in serious trouble as will the home owner.I am legal and I do this shit all the time. Quote
gcdj Posted July 14, 2010 Author Posted July 14, 2010 ok cheers for the advice. looks like im gonna have to do a lot more planning then i originally thought. Quote
