Tips on promoting, Non-professional

so ive got a gig coming up for an open house party, still a good month n a half away, what are some good ways to promote the party and my DJ-ing and get people coming to the party?

maybe sick photoshopped poster

motivation for people to add friends to event

door prize for best dressed/ themed costume or somthin

bussiness cards for yourself to pass out, for future gigs?

have enough music, play requests for chix=sex

all i can think of for now?

Pre mix a small set..give people a flavour of waht they can expect at teh party.

If you can use it as the soundtrack for a small video thats really cool.

Similar to what they do for good vibes and stuff like that.

also i guess the party owners choice for costume or not

but i like the requests and free drinks idea's, but got girlfriend so sex with others is may be off the cards, will ask the GF haha

pro id go make a fce book page and send it to the members of the place your djing at give your self the image that your the hottest thing going round right now and attach a mix

When I managed my first band on the Gold Coast in the 60s I would swap glass ashtrays at coffee bars and pubs, clubs with ashtrays with stickers of my bands name under the glass bottoms.

They lasted for months as no one could be bothered removing them.

Also posted signs in public where no one could reach them. No numbers just the band's name.

After a while we began to get recognition.

Get someone to make up a great looking flyer and banner so that you can ask friends to add it too their forum posts (looks like you already know how to do this)
