seffo
getting my first mixer this week. im after something really cheap. its just for my bedroom and occasional house parties. i dont mind upgrading down the track when ive got more coin. for now im just gunna be running it with traktor and no decks. i think id prefer something with 4 or so channels. ive been looking on ebay and theres a heap of behringer DJX750's going cheap? whats everyones thoughts on these? ive read pretty negative things on them in other forums. but surely itd do the job if its just for me mucking about in my room? is there anything else i should be takign into consideration? Hobberz
Hey mate, I am only new to the Dj'ing scene and I have been doing alot of research in the last week or so before purchasing my first lot of Dj equipment. I too have read some bad things about the Behringer mixers. But everyone has their own opinion, and some people might love them. Now how cheap are we talking?, keeping in mind you get what you pay for.If you were to go for a 2 channel item you could pick up the following for a handy price(2nd hand), and will be a reasonable investment and should be fine for what you want. * Korg KM-202, which has built in KAOSS pad*Allen & Heath Xone 22*Numark DXM06I haven't used any of the above mixers, but what I found is the Xone 22 seems to be a pretty good unit. As I said, Im only new to the scene so dont rush out and buy one that I mentioned. I'm sure one of the pro guys will post soon and point you in the right direction and tell me I'm wrong. tubby
Djx is cheap cos it is built to break. Xone 22 is a good starting point or numark dxm06. Vestax pcv175 or the older 275.
seffo
yeah im lookin at 300 - 400. and at least 3 channels. i done a bit of reading on the pcv175 and it sounds pretty good for what i want. theres one on ebay for 350? wat u guys reckon? can u run pretty much any mixer through traktor? CBG
Dude, 3 or more channels could be tricky. The DJX700 or watever its called, is fine for beginners, the DDM4000 is pretty nice as well.I have a Xone22, it rules. Not sure about the korg mixers, all i know is that they dont specialise in mixers. But Korg are a trustworthy brand. cant hurt.Id look at getting a behringer mate, they're fine
CBG
and yes, traktor will work with any mixer. The cables just run through the mixer. Just that MIDI control wont be available with some, the DDM4000 does it, but its shithouse.
seffo
i just thought 3 or more channels would be good to mix in acapellas and shit like that. also when it comes time to get some decks ive been playin around with the idea of gettin a cdj and a turntable. u know, variety being the spice of life and everything. would this affect the sort of mixer i should go for?
CBG
nope, each mixer should have a Phono (turntables) Line In (everything else) inputs on each channel. So you could have one turntable and a CDJ. You could even have one CDJ and one turntable on each channel and flick between the two. Having a CDJ on on channel and a turntable on the other would be a little odd though.Mixer wise though, yaeh its capable. Only thing was if you want to do scratching, you'd need a good durable crossfader. Just recently they released a high quality replacement crossfader for the DDM4000, which is pretty cool. pill
I have said this elsewhere but the numark m4 is a great place to start... no LCD readouts of bpms so no cheating haha! Three channells with one channell switchable between line inputs a/b.I use it with 2 channells on vdj and the third on a second laptop or ipod in case of crash in vdj.hell I started with a Stanton 202 scratch mixer which has lasted six years. Nik469
numark m4 is a neat little mixer, is what i started off with. no faults worked sweet and only cost me
SourceRaver
Behringer = " but surely itd do the job if its just for me mucking about in my room?"I started out with a Behringer VMX300 and it lasted quite a few years. If your looking at getting serious about Dj'ing then wait a bit longer a buy a better brand or buy one second hand. Otherwise if you want something now, a inexpensive Behringer will do the job.,
ill_spector
numark, are affordable and relatively good.+1 on m4, it's always good to have a spare channel incase of emergency
