News
Denon is doing everything it can to compete with Pioneer to be the ultimate, go-to brand for DJ equipment. The former has introduced the Prime 4 standalone system — which is all any beginner or intermediate DJ would need to dive right into the mix. Even professionals can have fun and get creative with this setup. Pioneer’s XDJ-RX2 has arguably been the next best option before upgrading to CDJs and that’s probably still the case. Similarly to Denon’s newly introduced Prime 4, it’s an all-in-one system. However, the big catch is the two-channel setup. DJs have been craving the 4-channel option in a concise, all-in-one piece that still feels within reach to the CDJ experience. That is, until now. Denon’s Prime 4 delivers on that need with its new system, priced at $1,699. The number still may be a little startling for aspiring DJs, but it’s much more affordable than going all out with four decks and a mixer. The rig runs through Denon’s Engine Prime software, but is compatible with playlists and hot cues from Serato DJ Pro, Traktor Pro, and Rekordbox. “With its ultra-responsive, touch-capacitive jog wheels, high-quality audio I/O, and built-in time stretching and key matching, Prime 4 has everything you need to bring your mixes to the club.” This hybrid — more than a controller yet not quite a professional setup — surely has its perks. But can Denon compete with the industry standard, Pioneer? Surely, the Prime 4 will give the XDJ-RX2 a run for its money, especially considering both pieces of equipment are set to the exact same price point. The Prime 4 DJ setup is expected to go on sale in March 2019. More info here. Denon DJ Prime 4 – Standalone DJ System This article was first published on Your EDM.
