Netflix Issues Official ‘Bird Box’ Warning Due To People Driving Blindfolded

This headline could essentially be written to say: “Major corporation urges people to use common sense and not kill themselves for memes”. It feels somewhat ridiculous to say, but that’s the world we’re living in.

Bird Box has been a surprising smash hit for Netflix, I say surprising because I don’t know anyone that was blown away by the film but the way people (Netflix’s marketing team) are carrying on about it online, you would have thought Drake’s child’s birthing video had leaked or something.

Bird Box follows a family in a world where if you see the monster, you die. Sounds eerily familiar to A Quiet Place right? Well it’s already been viewed a whopping 45 million times and is on track to be one of the biggest Netflix movies ever.

As always, when something achieves such a status of cultural relevance in this day and age, it leads to it being mercilessly memed and mocked. The latest Bird Box challenge sees people trying to go about their day while blind folded, some going as far to drive around completely blind.

Which has led to Netflix issuing a statement on the trend, namely calling people out for being absolute fucking numpties and endangering other people.

Can’t believe I have to say this, but: PLEASE DO NOT HURT YOURSELVES WITH THIS BIRD BOX CHALLENGE. We don’t know how this started, and we appreciate the love, but Boy and Girl have just one wish for 2019 and it is that you not end up in the hospital due to memes.

There you have it, lets make common sense a trend in 2019 shall we?
