bpm count program

hay guys this is my 1st question so im sorry if its in the wrong place. the bpm counter on my deck arnt the greatest and im just wondering if there is a program (preforably to download) that i can install on my laptop to count the bpm from my deck more accuretly?

TBH man, to help you in the long run, your better off putting some Tape over where the bpm counter is and learn to mix via ear. BPM counters will never be spot on, and if you rely on them 100% and they fail when you play live, you gonna be screwed.

It will also make the transition from cdj to vinyl ALOT easier if that ever happens.

you dont have to learn fully by ear but having that skill there will help you mix smoother and faster,

But to answer your questions directly, no i dont know of any bpm counters, im sure if there is one though someone here will know of it.

In answer to your question...no. I doubt you'll find an accurate BPM counter on the net. As Johnny says, learn to judge the speed of the music using your ears and then speed up or slow down the incomming track accordingly. It takes practice...practice...practice but you'll get it soon enough!

my mixer takes donkeys before it finally comes up with a count, and it can sometimes be 1 away from what traktor says, so i know they aint accurate.

if you use it at all its only as a guide so you know where to pitch it in at, but other then that its gotta be the ear.

We tell you to learn by ear,

because bpm counters are like training wheels, they will keep you upright while they are there, but if you take them away you fall over, learn to ride with out the training wheels, and once you learn you wont forget and can ride any bike with or without trainingwheels.

kudos to the OP for being honest. And yes you can by BPM counters.

they plug in as effects units, im just not sure where to get them.

haha im going to be hated for this but to answer your questions yes there is dont hate.

yep, i pretty much memorise every songs BPM, some call it cheating, but I dont care. Why waste time matching tempos when you could be doing other things?

Yeah i label ALL my cd's with a cd printer and im anal as shit about it too hahaha. They all have the key of the song on it along with the artist, song and even the label.

I prob should buy shares in canon. Use enough of their ink hahaha

depends what you mix as well i guess, harmonic mixing and looong smooth transitions are really important in prog and trance

yeh all i throw on is track name and remixer if their known, i like to think im reasonable at picking up key from memory so i tend to stick to that
