FabDJ Posted April 15, 2010 Posted April 15, 2010 Love the bass but after after four or five hours I have a very sore headRelocated it on the side of me, front of me facing away, 5 metres away facing in every direction. I have only one sub. Is there a sweet spot where it cancels out or is reduced.Want it hammering on the dancefloor not on the side of my head.Any suggestions pleaseFabDJ Quote
Cupe Posted April 15, 2010 Posted April 15, 2010 Maybe have it facing away from you and wrap the back up in soundproof sheets - might offer a bit of deflection? Quote
CBG Posted April 16, 2010 Posted April 16, 2010 definetily earplugs man. its pretty unhealthy to be listening to loud music for so long.I have mine at my feet and its fine. You should try lowering the freq cutoff. it might be an issue of the wrong sound going through your sub.Set the freq cutoff to about 200hz, see if thats better. Otherwise place some thick blankets around your walls and other hard objects to minimise unwanted reverb. Quote
FabDJ Posted April 16, 2010 Author Posted April 16, 2010 Thanks gentlemenI might try lowering the frequency cut off. I can hear muffled female voices coming through so it might be set too high.Ear plugs are an option too.FabDJ Quote
CBG Posted April 16, 2010 Posted April 16, 2010 Yep, if you can hear voices, its too high. I'm pretty confident that that will do the trick Quote
pill Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 Got a couple of suggestions here.Firstly, Sound waves travel in a waveform and if you're playing inside, those waves reflect off surfaces and cause points where the sound will be louder than others. However, as the frequency of bass in music is ever-changing, you can not really find out where these sweet spots will be (the wavelength is related to the frequency, and the "sweet spot" depends on a ratio between the distance from the speaker and the wavelength of the bass note, etcetc year12physics omg.)Bass refracts much more easily than treble, so someone behind a speaker system will always hear more bass in an enclosed room than treble. My personal solution is Etymotic Research ER-20 Reusable earplugs. They cost about $20-25 off ebay ($30-35 at your local store), and are a blanket -20db reduction in noise levels.Since I began using these a few months ago, I have got substantially fewer headaches and substantially less ringing in my ears after gigs.
