Hey question for blodders, what material was it that you used as the surfaces for your unit? was it mdf or something else?

A very rewarding project,

just still havent got my head round the picture host bit yet

my turntables stay on all the time as does the mixer only cause i'm lazy

as for the material it is plywood

i have a bit of a love hate relationship with MDF.

it is highly toxic to work with and doesn't give that lovely warm wood finish that i was after

next time i will use a thicker ply though this one had a few issues with warping

as you see it it end up costing me around $300 form bunnings including the belt sander

Def - to post and image host it on some thing like face book (great cause i shrinks them i to a usable size)

right click on the image a select 'save image location'

then click on the IMG tag above on the repy window and paste the images url (should end in .jpg) and click the IMG tag again and you have posted an image

would love to see both your designs and projects

that's the biggest problem with cdjs is you require front loading access.

the speaker stands are not what you think,

it took a little while to plain but not to long to build (remember measure twice cut once, yes dad)

yea definately a good job man, ill be starting on mine wednesday when i go buy wood, i found myself some nice pine board for the top surface and shelves that i wanna make so im feeling good.

Ive got zero wood working skills so im very happy the way it turned out, it could of been a complete disaster

mate its 170 cm wide, 90 cm high and 60 cm across (with out speaker stands) and I would suggest using straight poles for the speakers to save more room

wow, it doesn't look that small. does it vibrate much?? how did you join it all together? Im impressed with the slide outs, very nice.

nope its solid as a rock , but it does weigh a fair bit , lots of nails and glue to keep it solid ,

and yes the slide outs are good for space saving
