Cupe:

I don’t mind if people post absolute garbage, I’d dismiss it, but there’s no need to embellish a post with negative connotations Cupe. My dick is not (and quite frankly) never been in a not. Suggesting particular certainties without proof of evidence (and no, web posts are not evidence) is. Not. Good...lol. Just some healthy. Honestly, the attitude problem I’ve somehow been referred to as having comes from being an inthemix user for the past few years, my bad.

JonnyB:

I’m not shutting anyone down from other avenues. Not only did I not intend to convey that idea in what I wrote, I never actually wrote it. Essentially, what I wrote was how I got through (with many details omitted). However (yes, you should have expected this), I’ve seen a great many DJ’s come through the trance scene, only to be rejected a year later, really doing exactly what some have said here (or otherwise know), e.g. getting to know the promoters etc etc etc.

Are you implying that I am under the impression that there is a step by step process to DJing and getting ‘breaks’? Clarify this for me. “Every Dj makes his mark in a different way”. Ok, explain this to me. Can you really speak for ‘every; dj? My discussion is intended to be an opinion, that’s what this site is for, right? If I was giving a sermon, seminar or simply trying to illustrate findings, I’d publish dude.

LOL @ the clikity-clak minimal reference. Each to their own 

dude, none of us here (maaybe Armed) are succesful trance DJs all the advice you gave was directed for the trance scene. But you made it seem as it was widespread across all genres.

House DJs can start in Parties>Pubs>Country Clubs>Clubs etc. Trance... probably cant.

We value most of your advice, but you gave it way too forcefully.

Forcefully? I'm not an internet nazi where I attempt to convey a considerate, yet composed tone; i'll leave that for uni thanks.

I remember writing I come from the trance scene, so your second sentence doesn't add to the discussion effectively.

Looks like I've assisted armed on a couple of things already. So best of luck to him :)

I seriously Hope that Trance does make a comeback and that Hardstyle dies the long coming death it deserves!

Some of the stuff from Stoneface & Terminal and Sean Tyas etc.. coming out is awesome!

I know where your coming from CGB, ive played Electro House for years now but still have a passion for Trance that the general audience don't really share.

You can spin Electro basically anywhere (within reason) and people will like it.

Just my opinion.

Importance of networking and getting out to meet promoters? Please, don't extend this crap my way, or anyone elses.

Maybe i got the wrong idea, but this quote obviously shuts skanks"and mine" view of a successfull way of getting into the electro house scene in sydney, because thats exactly what i did. what i was trying to say is this way might not work in the trance scene, which then your perfectly fine to say that is utter bullshit, as long as you say its utterbullshit to do that in the trance scene, but you just said the whole idea of networking is crap. Essentially, what I wrote was how I got through (with many details omitted). Ok, explain this to me by this i mean that every dj made there way to were they are diffrent to other dj's, e.g some may of got there through networking, through family, through hardwork, through imaculat mixes, by chance, or they were forced into it, etc etc....no i cant speak for every dj, but you cant honestly beleive that every dj got to where they are the exact same way as every other dj.. now i may of sent the wrong message, im not the smartest guy and pretty shit at choosing the right words. but what cbg posted to posts above this is basically what i was trying to say, Your from a trance backround, and you say you can only speak from a trance point of view. but all the advice your giving seemed like you were applying it to the dj scene as a whole.

I don't understand you users tbh; well, I can understand your posts (not that difficult), but the fact that you all are still going on about the same thing.

Read the first paragraph of the first post I made..lol. Whether or not I made it clear that I am speaking in terms of the Trance scene is not the discussion. Ultimately, the house scene and trance scene share the same environment, cluttered in oceans of shit music (:P), so I'm pretty sure (bar a few variations) they are not that distinct.

Ok, bit of a miss understanding from my part, when you were challenging/oposing(what ever you want to call it) our opinions, it was a little confusing to work out how much of your posts were from a trance point of view, i know you mentioned it in your very first paragraph, but you made a lot of posts that dip'd into other genre's which confused me cause those opinions wern't from trance.

Anyway, i see where your coming from, i hope you can see where i was coming from. Im going to go play some skate 3.

In fact they are fairly distinct. Trance is only played in a handful of venues in melb, house is played in hundreds.

Yeah f'ing HATE hardstyle!!. Wish it would f off too. i really dun mind house i sometimes muck around with house tracks.....not enough to love it though, but i can see why people do

CBG i wrote a fair post and computer turned off, cbf remembering. But ultimately, and to keep it short, they are not distinct (both are involved with the EDM scene etc etc etc etc etc). It's not like Rock and Trance (don't start with an abstract account of the similarities blah blah).

Luckily for me, Ivan from Tv Rock showed me the way on the decks a few years back. Much of what I have extended can be said to revert to his advice. Maybe Coursey and Smilie could be as reputable and all 3 own the house scene here (metphorically obviously).

good HARDSTYLE ROCKS!! or at least hardtrance that sounds like hardstyle :o

soo.. back on topic. if ur an unknown get to know (not sucking up) as many promoters and organisers and send as many demos out as possible. its more a hit n miss.

getting to know people will not keep u in the scene as a dj, but it will give u your chance to show your stuff. your skill/taste in music/ tiesto pose etc is what keeps u in the scene.

personally i didnt do the pub thing but i do hardtrance & HARDSTYLE **cough** so no pub with a sane mind would let me play.
