junior
hey,im new to the scene however had a passion for djing for quite a while. dont have any decks however been reading non-stop about reviews on what is good and what is not. the main things that i have picked is when buying, u want to save that little bit extra so instead of buying really cheap basic decks, spend a little more and that way as u improve u wont need to upgrade as often, do u agree with this?also im looking at getting a set up for no more then $3000. the two options im thinking about is either 2 x CDJ400 & DJM 400 or 2 x CDJ800mk2 & korg km202. i want something that i can play around with effects and learn to scratch with yet produce sweet beats. wat is ur opinion? wats decent for up to $3000cheers
Buck_Choi
if you want to scratch you would want to go turntables. and since in this day and age you would need to use DVS something like serato or traktor.
ChevChelios
If you want cdjs and you want to scratch, go with 800s, 400 platters are way too tiny, but yeah ideally turntables would be best for scratching.produce seet beatsYou dont do that on decks Welcome to ADJF
Buck_Choi
in the sale section of this forum people selling pair of technics 1200's for about 1200-1400. pretty good deal and then get serato, and some random mixer. and you would be good to go. if you have a decent laptop/computer, for the serato to work with
junior
Ok, thanks for the advice however I think I want cd players instead of turntables, just is easier to self teach and not have to worry about vinyls, needles and other bits n pieces. Is that correct? As for scratching, well not majorly important to me as beat matching and remixing with effects etc. Opinions?
LabRat
like the guys said above, if you wanna scratch then DEFS get turnies. as for needles... not a huge problem. i got thru a set of needles every 6 months and i work them HARD...
junior
i think ill start with cdj400s and then expand and get vinyls shortly after when the next cash inflow comes. mixers, djm400 or korg km 402. opinions?
