Ideas for competitions

So I can give prizes of $ADJF money that you can use to buy whatever you want in the store as prizes.

But waht competitions can we run that will get people interested? The usual do a mix competition is a bit overdone these days.

I thought of one the other day actually. It's aimed more for producers.

I call it, The Initial Preset Challenge.

 

The idea is to make the best / dirtiest / prettiest sound you can by only using the initial preset. 

You can use any 3rd party plugin you like but the sound must be the initial preset from your synth and that's it. You can use the master envelope only but you can't assign it to anything. You can also use the glide / portamento and make the sound mono or poly. To make it fair we can pick a synth so everyone has the same sound. Can be a free synth like Noise Maker by TAL if people don't have Massive or something.

How hard is this to get rolling with a bunch of people, especially noobs that haven't done it before? @LabRat

Not hard I'd imagine. Good way for newbies to learn their tool and for seasoned vets to showcase their creativity. I'll make proper rules and then we can put it out there to a time frame. Should be easy enough for everyone to do.

TBH for those here out there looking to sharpen up their mixing skills perhaps we re-introduce the monthly mixes, maybe making them 2-3 genres instead of one, encouraging creativity in filling the gaps and transitioning to new styles.

 

For those interested in producing, and those who aren't as good at it - perhaps coming up with your own individual 8bar sample/loop/vox/effect/bassline/etc and having the producers see what they can do with them in whatever format they so wish.
