davep_music Posted April 6, 2017 Posted April 6, 2017 Hey guys so i am new to Sydney and i am looking to get involved in the DJ scene. Looking to join and help exisitng people / groups who are trying to set up their own name / sound in the area. im at a bit of a cross roads as i dont know a lot of contacts if any, but ideally i want to start a regular night with the help of others that we can all play our own music, practice our skills and enjoy the time we have! i appreciate any help in the right direction , people with current or past expereinces and also followers who want to get on board with this! im literally a guy who wants to play my music and hopefully make an ame for myself whilst helping others. venues / gigs / bars / promotors / help you name it ....i am all ears! cheers Dave Quote
LabRat Posted April 6, 2017 Posted April 6, 2017 Not knowing anyone is gonna be a bit tricky so on to part 2, have you got money? If you have some money to spare you can hire a venue for a night. I would suggest getting out there and meeting people. I know a lot of people say that but it's pretty much the 1 thing that matters the most, building good relationships. I met a guy one night when I was running my own night. We had a chat and a few weeks later we had a tune signed and it did ok. He expanded his network base and started playing in venues while he was here so it's a big help davep_music 1 Quote
Scottie Posted April 6, 2017 Posted April 6, 2017 hey mate, have a look on facebook for local music groups - I know there's a couple for sydney DNB related things with gigs regularly posted by the organisers. Like @LabRat said, best thing to do is get down to local nights, bring mates if you can and support it davep_music 1 Quote
Mitch Posted April 8, 2017 Posted April 8, 2017 Literally just have to scout existing nights via facebook, head down and meet people to bulid the relationship. If Sydney is anything like Melb, it's saturated with DJs, so they need a good reason to choose to work with you over the next bloke davep_music 1 Quote
