Cupe Posted October 24, 2016 Posted October 24, 2016 “Out with the old and in with the new” is usually a good saying, but Apple doesn’t seem to know which old stuff to keep around. Macotakara, the website that accurately predicted the demise of the headphone jack in the iPhone 7, has issued a new report that the old USB port on the new MacBook 12″ is going to meet the same fate. It is rumored that the old USB ports will be replaced with new USB-C and Thunderbolt 3 ports on the new 12″ MacBook. Alongside these alarming rumors are rumors that the 11″ MacBook Air will be discontinued in hopes of driving up the sales of the new 12″ MacBook. This means that many people who rely on the old USB ports will either have to shell out more money to buy adapters, or invest in newer computers. Considering most DJs use MacBooks alongside mixers, this could cause an uproar amongst artists everywhere. Stay tuned for updates on the story as we find out more information. Apple currently sells a USB-C dock with other USB and HDMI ports for $79. Information from Macotakara, though proven correct in the past, is still just speculation until the official product specs are released when the new MacBook is revealed.
