KamiCastle
I just got my setup less than a month ago. I am getting the hang of beat matching house, hardstyle music making progress. However with dubstep not making any progress =/. Any tips on beatmatching dupstep much appreciated.thanks
Cupe
It depends on what sort of tracks you're using. Proper tracks (from Firepower Recs for example (datsik etc)) will have decent intro/outro bars of maybe 16 beats (like electro and house tunes) that can help with beatmixing into the next tuneThe problem with dubstep is that every single cunt in the world wanted to produce it so there is a plethora of poorly made and shit tracks that make mixing not so easy.Beatmatching is the same with all music, it's just a matter of learning from the ear and having tracks that work well together to let it happen. If all else fails, backspin + hammer the fader over lolz
LabRat
To mix these off beat genres (dubstep, breaks, dnb etc) you mix to the snare. The kicks usually hit in the one but after that can be a bit inconsistent (compared to the 4x4 of house music). The snares are what you listen out for when beat matching this stuff. Don't backspin lol not yet anyway. Learn to beat match first
KamiCastle
thanks guys.snares ok I think I get it. it sounds confusing but can a snare but only once per bar? because I do hear like a bla bla bla SNAP bla bla bla SNAP type thing. do I count the snap part as 1? LabRat
Yeah pretty much. Don't count the snare as 1 coz it doesn't fall on the first. The kick always lands on the 1 but the snare is consistent on the

RichoKidd
Good note.Don't be afraid of beat matching a Dubstep tune at 70bpm, with a tune at 140bpm. They may be completely different tempos, but it can work!
OxyKon
Good note.Don't be afraid of beat matching a Dubstep tune at 70bpm, with a tune at 140bpm. They may be completely different tempos, but it can work!In the ways of dubstep it actually is basically the same tempo, because 140 divided by half is 70, just usually means there isn't as much drum action involved

Sometimes its easier to go from 140 to 70 or vice versa!
