LabRat
Would be ok bit that 8gb ram will come haunt you. Minimum should be 8 but 16 is definitely more comfortable. 13" would be fine if you don't mind that size. I'd go with the i7, 1TB hdd if you want the space otherwise the sd's will be better for boot up times. There's external ssd drives anyway. Samsung do a 1TB ssd external for 200 bucks I think
Mitch
What's your budget and where are you located? And do you want pc or Mac?
KamiCastle
I wanted to spend around 1.5k max. But looks like I need 2k minimum and I want a mac
Mitch
I can have a quick look for a suitable used one (online + some places retail them) if I know where you're located. What computer do you have at the moment (if any)? It may even be suitable for learning / entry level production
KamiCastle
bit worried buying second hand worried about faults. I don't know my current computer specs Im not at home. do I need sound card?
LabRat
Depends. A soundcard is better than core audio and takes some strain off your CPU, so in that sense, yes. However, if you don't have studio monitors and/or you're not planning to record audio (vocals, external synths and drums) and you have a Logitech speaker set or something I wouldn't worry about it.
