eggssell Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 oh yeh cupe forgot to mention very enjoyable mix. had it playing on the plane while i played the new magic duels game on the ipad.not sure if i did an accidental rewind, but did you repeat a song at the beginning? like in the first six songs im sure i heard a song twice... Quote
Cupe Posted August 6, 2015 Author Posted August 6, 2015 oh maybe it was the mix I forgot to write one up for:>Too bad can't remember now. Quote
BeatLeSS Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 Re-listen, jog your memory, write tracklist. Oxykon does it Quote
Cupe Posted August 13, 2015 Author Posted August 13, 2015 yeah not gonna happen. it would take me ages.most of the tracks were shit I've never listened to and probably won't listen to again Quote
BeatLeSS Posted August 14, 2015 Posted August 14, 2015 Ahh the old "i've never heard this track before but ognna mix it to see how it goes" routine.. That's achally pretty dope that it made it to a mix you're putting out publically.. I'd never play out a track I haven't heard a thousand times before haha. Quote
Cupe Posted August 14, 2015 Author Posted August 14, 2015 I checked all the tracks before I played them.Like, it was the first time I'd really listened to some on the day but I wasn't just picking random tunes mid mix Quote
BeatLeSS Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 Yeah yeah, so it's like you've heard the clip that made you want the track and know where it's going to fit roughly, but you never really heard the thing start to finish kinda thing?Dopest feels when you pull off that kinda shit! Quote
Cupe Posted August 17, 2015 Author Posted August 17, 2015 That's how I am with most mixes these daysBut that's probably because I don't limit myself to a specific genre or area of tunesAnd I get sick of hearing tunes I like too many times over and over Quote
eggssell Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 me too in the most parti try never to hear a song more than say 20 times in ayear (def never more than 50). so i dont know many songs back to front. so my mixing process is usually chuck in a folder heaps of tracks that have that feel im going formuck around mixing for two hours wittling the number of songs down. then either that night ilor th next day hit record Quote
BeatLeSS Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 This is awesome discussion. I like to get super intimate with my tunes, I wanna know every single sound that's happening and when, in case I need to use it for something. My music collection isn't that big since I've scrapped it and started a High Qualtiy (wav/flac) collection now I'm starting to play out on really big systems, this might have something to do with it and as it grows it'll definitely get difficult to do. I'm already planning on some kind of rotation method for the car and at home so that when I get the internet connected I'll be prepared for the collection to expand further and further. Quote
Cupe Posted August 17, 2015 Author Posted August 17, 2015 yeah see I have like 2TB of music, and that's after losing my music hdd to deathAnd all I really listen to is ADJF radio lel Quote
eggssell Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 i guess i listen to music more than i dj, so yeh i like variety.sometimes i hear a song and go this track is the shiz!! and its like something from three years ago that i totally forgot about.i think once i tried to plan a mix, it was my first attempt at recording a hip hop mix. but i can just never ensure ill be able to beat match on time. and it used to get me frustrated. so i prefer a fluid style of mixing. then again even fluid i cant always beat match it properly haha Quote
Cupe Posted August 17, 2015 Author Posted August 17, 2015 I first started DJing with hiphop and scratching/tricks around 85bpm shitWhich seems to be what most people have trouble mixing.I duno, I learned fairly differently to most of the digital guys on here. But anyway, knowing tricks and scratches is like the backspin trick when shit isn't mixing well on CDJsYou can always drop any hiphop track with a tricky little scratch whether it matches or not Quote
