Hey guys

Im just wondering if any of you use DMX features when djing and actually control them yourself.

Did it effect the quality of your djing and the music focusing on 2 things at once? Was it too much?

Thanks

depending on what you're trying to achieve, doing live lighting control or pre-programmed lighting is a bit so-so for a dj. best thing to have are just lights that are activated by sound.

If the lighting rig is big/good/dope enough for me to even think about wanting to do anything with the lights, the club would have someone there doing the lighting properly.

Most smaller setups aren't really worth touching. I might turn certain lights on/off or change the colour depending on the time of night, but nothing further than that

I have a wireless power board that has a remote for each port. sometimes I mess with it or use it to turn everything off before putting the strobe on.

DMX in a mobile setup is way too much work. Simplicity is the key to a good mobile setup.

The only time I'd use DMX is with moving heads, and even then id just put one on sound activated and make the other a slave.
