LabRat
Mackie's are usually pretty good. I can't comment too much on 3" speakers - seem a bit small for my liking. I'd usually be keen on no less than 4" but the best thing to so is head down to your local music shop and see if they got some set up. Since they're Mackie they could be perfect for what you're after
conCuss
was so ready to buy , until i realized it would only be shipped in the US The price here at JBHIFI is about 80 bucks more worth it?https://www.jbhifi.com.au/headphones-dj ... rs/888803/

For that price you could get a good deal on some bigger speakers. Try your luck and see how you go

LabRat
i'm assuming your looking to spend somewhat around that price, i guess if that's the case then those mackies should be ok, compared to the others in a 3" range. otherwise, i'd suggest look into theseKRK ROKIT: https://www.storedj.com.au/products/KRK-RP5G3 JBL: https://www.storedj.com.au/products/JBL-LSR305Pioneer (i'd say that price is each): http://kosmic.com.au/recording/studio-m ... aker-each/Behringer have some pretty good, and cheap monitors. not sure what size these are but could be worth looking intohttp://kosmic.com.au/recording/studio-m ... itor-pair/

Mitch
Yer I would go for 5" speakers if you can. I don't rate the pioneers at all for production. Krks/jbl/Yamaha are the better end of the cheaper speakers. behringer are pretty entry level, but they will get the job done and I know a few who use them and quite like them
LabRat
All good mate. I use behringer truths because I got them cheap and I needed something smallish for my workspace. They do the job pretty wellGood luck!
