Cupe Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 For the third year in a row, Armin Van Buuren was crowned the number 1 spot on DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs list. After an incredible year filled with sold out gigs worldwide, his 72 hour live ASOT 400 celebration featuring massive guest DJs, and his ‘A State of Trance’ radio show that consistently brings in millions of listeners every week, Van Buuren most definitely earned his #1 spot. His reaction to taking home the gold? “I’m thrilled and deeply honored, it feels like winning a gold medal at the Olympics,” he says.Tiesto remains in the second spot while David Guetta knocked Paul Van Dyk to number 5 by setting up shop with the big boys in the top 3.1. CBG Posted January 29, 2010 Posted January 29, 2010 Didn't realise David Guetta got so high. Deadmau5, will go higher than that this year. Quote
JonnyB Posted January 29, 2010 Posted January 29, 2010 the reason why these guys get the top every year, is because they have a big following, not because they are good.i mean deadmau5 isnt even a dj.this shouldnt be a best dj of 2009 it should be the best rockstars or electronic music.i mean ive got people that play at the same club as me that could shred some of those guys.fucking commercialism Quote
Cupe Posted January 29, 2010 Author Posted January 29, 2010 technically deadmau5 can be a DJ he just happens to spin all of his own produced shit, amirite Quote
Mish_Mash Posted January 29, 2010 Posted January 29, 2010 Pretty much right... But i see where Johnny is coming from too... ive been to lots of festivals like most music fans, and i rekn some of the best dj's for making the crowd go nuts are some of the local ones... I wonder if there will ever be an aussie in the top 10... Gives us all somethin to aspire to i suppose. I reckon we should all pick our top 10... or even Top 5... u choose Mr Caleupe... peace Quote
Cupe Posted January 29, 2010 Author Posted January 29, 2010 yea locals are good but these top guys can bring 40,000+ people to eventsthat shit is off the chain Quote
JonnyB Posted January 30, 2010 Posted January 30, 2010 yeah but like i said, people arnt going to see them because of how great their skills are, they are going because they play thr crowd, the top 10 should be made from dj's that battl in the DMC comp Quote
Mish_Mash Posted January 30, 2010 Posted January 30, 2010 Heres my Top 10 that i seen last year either at festivals or playin the clubs...10. Roger Sanchez... eggssell Posted January 30, 2010 Posted January 30, 2010 hey jonnyb as freaking awesome some of those dmc ninjas are, not all can party rock though.that being said some have managed the transition quite well. a-trak is cool az. and craze is a madd mofo. goes from miami bass to dnb to downright mental, as long as it has bass!! loved his fabriclive set (which was more commercial then some of his dub, i think, mixes). kentaro also rules too, but he still sticks to his wigga wigga roots a little stronger, buti love his reggae influence. dapimp Posted January 30, 2010 Posted January 30, 2010 daft punk is even on the list ppfffttt (no 33)they make good music but are they even DJs?? i dont think they did much at all in 2009 Quote
JonnyB Posted January 31, 2010 Posted January 31, 2010 my top 10 that ive seen would be10.ajax - not as good as used to be but when he was, he was the best.9.excision8.z-trip.7.atrak6.mustard pimp5.skream n benga4.grandmaster flash3.hijack2.afrojack1.Jack beats(using 4 cdj's 2 turntables and 2 mixers and actualy using all of them...THAT is skill )now ive kind of conrtadicted myself here. as maybe 2 or 3 of these dj's i picked purely on the music they played not there actualy dj skill Quote
