pill Posted January 23, 2010 Posted January 23, 2010 I'll start:How annoying is it when some drunk bitch gets upset because a song that everyone usually loves has some negative correllation to her (probably slutty) youth and squeals "next song" on the dance floor until the mood is completely ruinied?(i dont know about you but in general i have a "if a song starts it finishes" policy Quote
SourceRaver Posted January 24, 2010 Posted January 24, 2010 I disagree...if the song isnt working (ie clears the dance floor) mix in the next asap.If you start doing weddings, make sure you ask the bride and groom about songs they DONT want played. Nothing kills the mood faster than a song that instantly reminds the bride of time spent with an ex boy friend! Quote
pill Posted January 25, 2010 Author Posted January 25, 2010 of course, I'm just saying its annoying when there's one whiny person that keeps saying next song like they are the one in charge of the function (when normally they're a straggling aunt invited out of pity that no one really wants there) Quote
wazza Posted January 29, 2010 Posted January 29, 2010 of course, I'm just saying its annoying when there's one whiny person that keeps saying next song like they are the one in charge of the function (when normally they're a straggling aunt invited out of pity that no one really wants there)I'm with you on this one PILL...I think there is nothing more disrespectfully than being yell at from the dance floor...I know I'm not going to please eveyone , all the time....most off the time I just blow it of & keep goingbut if you keep DISS meI dont give a fuck who you are...thear will be trouble Quote

wazza Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 so if you need tricks call me - you have the phone numbergot your number...it's 0800dickhead Quote
Skank Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 im with wazza on this one, 99% of the time at a serious gig you would of been hired for a reason (like recommendations from friends and so on) so if some ganga is yellin at you on the floor tell her to close her ears and open her mouth Quote
DjDennis Posted March 6, 2010 Posted March 6, 2010 yawn well when you know that the crowd asks for it and they wont do a thing but hey you know it all you been doing this for many years and are a great Djhave a nice day Quote
DjSTRiKE Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 Has anyone had dealings with mobydisc? they anoy me.i mean ffs they use 2 walkmans connected to a mixer -.-" Quote
pill Posted June 29, 2010 Author Posted June 29, 2010 Far out man they are horrible. Their DJs in Perth get a video jukebox and are paid $20/hour. No wonder they can charge $400 for a wedding... Quote
DjSTRiKE Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 Yeah. i don't know one person that has had positive feedback about them, and there undercutting alot of DJ's so people take them and they dont know what there getting themself into. its stupid. they dont even "DJ" as such, they just play songs, and that outfit they wear? LOL. Quote
CBG Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 a massive amount of mobile DJs just play music. Being a good DJ is very hard and takes years. Meaning a lot or most mobile DJs just settle for weddings n shit where the high skill level isnt needed Quote
Skank Posted June 30, 2010 Posted June 30, 2010 how annoying is it whenyou are in a hotel or bar and see i djing obviously cueing up tracks for a transition and when it comes to the end of the track they just smack the fader accross. its not hard to practice simple transitions, your not a fuckin rockstar no one in the building is here to listien to you play get creative or fuck off Quote
pill Posted June 30, 2010 Author Posted June 30, 2010 bleurgh the 'resident' dj at the mint night club in perth might as well be using itunes Quote
DjSTRiKE Posted June 30, 2010 Posted June 30, 2010 I got told a while back by my Dj mentor:"good music makes a good party, but good music + good mixing makes a better party" I take this into consideration with every gig i do Quote
FabDJ Posted July 1, 2010 Posted July 1, 2010 Hell my first rig was a couple of walkmans and a balance control. Was hard work reading CD covers and guessing track numbers. Didnt even have time to get drunk and start a fight. Quote

Meaning a lot or most mobile DJs just settle for weddings n shit where the high skill level isnt neededMobile Dj's may not have high skill levels when it comes to mixing, but they should have highly developed skills in other areas like reading the crowd, dealing with drunks and 'conflict resolution'. Sometimes you need to have a tough skin and be prepared to play music that you really dislike. Kudos to those who pull it off on a regular basis. Quote
CBG Posted July 1, 2010 Posted July 1, 2010 i should explained myself better, you pretty much did it for me SR,thanks Quote
gcdj Posted July 13, 2010 Posted July 13, 2010 One of the worst things i have encounted is having everyone up and dancing then some drunk chick comes behind the dj booth trips over my cords turning the music off. Quote
pill Posted July 13, 2010 Author Posted July 13, 2010 ouch. I haven't had that problem yet but i am always scared of it happenning.new annoyance:... when it's the night before an expo and you run out of paper / ink with half your flyers still to print Quote
Lurk6r Posted May 1, 2011 Posted May 1, 2011 When parents come up and want to look through my crate for music their kid would like. And no pink doesn't get the fugging party started... Quote
