Biography

Dusky

Dusky are London based musicians Alfie Granger-Howell and Nick Harriman. As comfortable writing elegant orchestral pieces or stirring piano motifs as they are jackin’ house and epic techno grooves, Dusky’s diverse sounds are united by the duo’s singular aim – to compose electronic music with depth, soul and originality. Influenced by everything from classical and jazz to avant-garde electronica, the duo's emphasis on musical depth rather than genre restrictions has seen their compositions played by DJs as diverse as Pete Tong, Vincenzo, Zane Lowe, MJ Cole, Dubfire, Sasha and Laurent Garnier. Also existing as progressive/melodic house entity Solarity, they conceived their Dusky moniker as an outlet for their more organic, wide-ranging sounds – a deeply musical expansion of their nocturnal inspirations.

With the album touching on ambient, dub, electronica and their organic take on house and techno, Dusky have quickly marked themselves out as producers with a uniquely broad appeal. As dance legend Pete Tong bigs them up on BBC Radio 1 and DJs like T. Williams and DMZ's Loefah hammer their tracks on urban phenomenon Rinse FM, the future is looking bright for Dusky.

Destroy the Machines

The trickiest and hotly anticipated DJ collaboration to hit the Australian circuit is duo Destroy The Machines.

And their name speaks for itself. Superior scratching skills understates their technical ability. Destroy The Machines are bass-driven dance music DJs and respected turntablists who push the equipment like no other. Using a set-up of four decks and two mixers, Destroy the Machines furiously sample and scratch their way through each set playing a wide range of tunes to create a glitchy energetic sound you must hear to believe!

Music style you ask? These dynamos are defined by no genre. Each set is determined by you, the dancer. Free from predetermined arrangements or promoter’s requests, they draw on their experience and play to the BPMs.

This partnership is complemented by a friendship bonded over an appreciation of heavy bass lines and encouraged by industry heavy weights. Offering over 24 years of experience between them, well-known Sydney producers A-Tonez (Anthony Azzopardi) and Matt Ferreira are now turning heads as Destroy The Machines and giving rise to a new wave of live and technical DJing.

The imminent release of their self-titled EP promises the primary elements of electro combined with the up-roaring new age complextro feel. The first track Rise of the Machine with its unwavering driving bass line gives us a taste of the exciting talent created by these two masterminds.

As individuals, these two have carved a reputation as unique and energetic so it is no surprise Destroy The Machines will deliver a quality performance with perfection each and every time they take to the decks.
