BitMaestro Posted October 16, 2014 Author Posted October 16, 2014 i wouldnt say rage started it. id go with bodycount.but even then there were a lot of groups (on the rap and metal side) who would fuse it for various tracks.this was post bodycount and pre-rage and a bloody good track! this is public enemy covering their own track but this time featuring anthraxFirst Exposure to this was Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2, along with one of Q Bert's tracks I think.going back to the OP djs in a band.cant forget the legendary australian dmc champ dj a.s.k. as part of renegade funk trainYES, this works well in a funk context. With styles like Jazz that have a strong focus on improvising, I'm amazed there isn't more people doing more with Jazz/funk bands. Plenty of local bands playing this stuff, especially uni bands. I would home across them all the time when I lived in Brisbane. Quote

Trennaa Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 Bombs Away have incorporated a band style to thier shows quite often. They've had a YouTube Cover-drummer Matt Maguire bring drums to the stage, while Sketch has been known to play Guitar, Tommy Shades as the MC/Vocalist, and their own DJ to mix the music.
