Boss101
Hey guys, I've just started making a bootleg. How do you guys approach you bootlegs/remixes?I mean is it just a matter of chopping and sampling with rearranging? Any feedback would be great! Mitch
'bootleg' is used fairly broadly nowadays:-Some people use it for simple mashups, which is just an acapella overtop of another track. -Others use the term to describe an unofficial remix (usually created without official stems or endorsement from the label on which the original was released)What are you looking at doing? LabRat
If I'm doing a bootleg, I'll usually keep the main build parts from the original and work on my own drop. If I'm remixing then I'm usually using stems from the original artist or building a completely new track around an acapella

Boss101
I'm trying to make an unofficial remix. I have the stems. I'm a beginner is it just a matter of slicing and sampling or is there more?

You can cut the audio files up and rearrange them or mangle them to sound different, the creativity is up to you. There's no rules and this is a great time to learn. You can shoot me a pm any time if you need anything
