Saturday 11th October, Soapbox Events & Chinese Laundry bring arguably the most brilliant techno DJ/Producer in the world, Jeff Mills for a load of LNDRY.

Championed for his music's relentless pursuit of hardness and his stripped-down, almost industrial DJ sets, Jeff Mills will be showing the cave just exactly why he is seen as the most recognised representative figure of Detroit techno.

Still need more? Also on the night we have Australia’s own mad decent ambassadors Kito & Reija Lee providing the party in the laundry. Kito & Reija are a musical duo with many achievements under their girl power belt, with releases on labels such as Skreams Disfigured Dubz and of course Diplo’s Mad Decent. Biography

Jeff Mills, along with Robert Hood, Carl Craig, and Joey Beltram, is one of the biggest American names in techno. Championed for his music's relentless pursuit of hardness and his stripped-down, almost industrial DJ sets, Mills is the latest in a long line of Detroit-bred talent to take on an international reputation.

A founding member of noted Motor City institution Underground Resistance, Mills helped build the artist roster and label ideology (as well as much of its back catalog) with partners "Mad" Mike Banks and Robert "Noise" Hood before moving to New York in 1992 to pursue more vigorously his solo and DJ career (with a resident spot at the legendary Limelight and a recording contract with the noted German label Tresor). (Although rumors of bad blood between the early UR crew have been denied by all involved, Mills' decision to split was apparently total, with Banks all but repudiating his involvement with Mills and Mills distancing himself from the continuing political militancy of Banks and the UR organization.) Mills' UR-related releases (including "The Punisher" and "Seawolf") are stripped-down and erratic, fusing elements of hardcore acid and industrial techno to the sparse Detroit aesthetic.

Not surprisingly, his post-UR sound hasn't eased a bit, although UR's penchant for the four-track has been replaced by higher-quality production.

Hailing from Perth in Australia, and now residing in South London, Kito & Reija Lee are a musical duo with many achievements under their girl power belt.

Beginning their careers as solo artists, the girls saw success originally releasing music via Skream’s Disfigured Dubz, and Diplo’s Mad Decent, with whom they are still closely affiliated with today. Recently, Big Boi’s #MashUpMondays series featured the girls’ Mad Decent release ‘Run For Cover’, and was titled ‘King Sh!t’. This saw the OutKast member rhyming with T.I. and Ludacris over a Kito & Reija Lee track, something that while un-expected, served as an incredible co-sign from one of music’s heavy weights.

The girls have known each other since the age of thirteen. The pair came from different musical backgrounds; however, they found a mutual love in electronic music, with Reija Lee bringing herself away from years of singing in rock and metal bands, and Kito adding a vocalist to a steadily rising solo career as a producer and DJ. As a pair, Kito and Reija Lee are unique, releasing music that speaks volumes in creative license; standing out from the crowd.

With influences ranging far and wide from Kate Bush, M83 and Drake to Ed Rush & Optical and J Dilla, the girl’s catalogue of sound is extensive. Using their varying backgrounds they have been creating phenomenal music that has taken the online world by storm; featuring on the likes of Do Androids Dance, Noisey, Vibe, Okay Player, Wonderland, and XXL. Radio support has been strong, with plays from Skream, B-Traits, Annie Mac and more on BBC Radio One, XFM and Rinse FM.
