The argument for DJs ‘doing nothing’ needed anymore fuel, here’s a video of DJ Natalia, a Colombian ‘model DJ’ who is absolutely crushing it on the decks to fan the flames.

More of a DJ by title not by talent, skill, or musical aptitude, the ‘Model DJ’ concept places models behind the decks where they pantomime to pre-recorded sets.

Watch as DJ Natalia randomly twists nobs and slams cue buttons on two CDJs without tracks loaded.

She claims she is using Traktor, but we’re not entirely sure.

There's no activity on the decks at all. Even in HID mode there'd be minutes/seconds moving.

I know you get pretty amped when you're mixing fucking with dials, but rarely do you touch them to do nothing.

I'm in two minds on this. If she is using Traktor, do the CDJ's populate track info? Could that be an option to not do it? Seems like she is just using expensive gear as a controller if the Traktor thing is right.

But yeah there is a fair amount a DJ wankery going on here. EQing a faded out channel and also mixing in the third channel right at the end with all EQ's zeroed out and nothing playing on it. But in my opinion I see almost every DJ touching EQ's unnecessarily. I think it is a sub conscious, "gotta look like I am actually doing something," reaction. Some just take it to the extreme and touch shit that isn't even doing anything.

But when she faded the first two channels the VU's looked legit and it sounded ok. Just the CDJ's had nothing playing on them.
