i had abot 40USD in my beatport crate for the last couple weeks and thought i better go checkout since the AUD so good. ended up getting another 25USD of stuff ontop!! ha ha.. im an addict

loving the new uffie (esp. the the Starkey mix and the Zombie Disco mix).

except access to tunes is much better.

and i know cairo mentioned by buying vinyl supports the industry, but buying digital probably ends up with the artist getting the same amount. the reason digital is cheaper is no shipment, no packaging, no importing. in fact as most are doing away w/ expensive recording companies so they are getting more! and most def selling more.

most new electronic dance artists have prob sold more digitally then they would have pressing wax or cd's.

and the old "but your getting rid of the crate digging aspect" arguement don't fly either, cuz trust it takes a lot of wading through music to find tracks you like.

okay so im not supporting the wharfies but i am supporting the music industry.

aiight off my soapbox, and the digital vs vinyl/ cd horse im sure has been beaten, skinned, burnt and buried to death already.

if you're buying from juno or chemical records then you win even more than ppl buying off beatport. we're even stronger against the pound than the USD.

at the cricket about 5 years ago when the pom's were out, the barmy army were singing songs "we get 3 dollars to the pound", "we're so rich it's unbelievable". now it's about 1.8.

if a track sells for $2. the label gets a cut, the people who press them get a cut, the place who sels the tracks gets a cut.

the producer will end up getting like 20c out of that $2

the people who do all the hard work(producers) get no fuckin money. but the dj' can make up to 10's of 1000's a gig if they are a big name...and they just play other people's music.

now in saying that im not having a go at dj's they are great, and there is alot of skill involved..

The more fingers in the pot gives more opportunities to cut deals, eg. shipping and pressing etc. in bulk, which cuts costs for the record label putting more money in their pocket, and in theory, more money in the artists pocket. So its probably more like at least 30 cents More money is lost in the digital world than gained.

just found the receipt from putting money on a US$ credit card for holiday in june - we only got 82 centrs to the dollar. Still got about $1000 left on it so looks like will lose $200 converting back.
