Recording a DJ Mix, sound quality really bad, helps me plzz

Using a DJM800 (heard mixed things about the soundcard) and for this particular mix i'm recording through an Audio 8 Soundcard, i'm using high quality cables as well, and the sound quality is really sub par

I've got a microtrak recorder as well, i just wanna get the best quality recording i can and i'm having trouble with it at the moment

Also for Melbourne boys, is there anywhere i can go and record a super high quality mix?

What program are you using to record with the audio 8?

Some audio programs don't interface well with multi IO soundcards (can't choose which Input on the audio 8 to use for recording). Also need to set the levels in the program to avoid clipping

When I used to record from my mixer, I'd just run in to the mic input on my comp and use audacity.

Basic as shit, but quality was always fine.

Make sure you're master volume isn't up too high - I found that fucked a lot of recordings I did.

I'm on the same page as Andy. RCA to 3.5 into the headphone jack and recorded through Audacity. Just gotta make sure you have the right settings set up in the recording section of the preferences.

when you say the sound is crap, can you be specific?

quiet recording

distorted etc

if its quiet, check your master out of the mixer, could be to low. Or if distorting , the opposite

Bass frequencies isn't there,

Not loud enough

Poor quality overall
