Klubbheads - Kickin' Hard (Lab Rat Remix)

Great idea.... Such a classic tune asking for the Melbourne treatment. Although I find the bass a bit lacking, or gets lost in all the high sounds in there. This is one of those tunes you really want to kick hard. A little bit more on the kick and the off beat bass and leave the rest as is and I think I would be happier. Or maybe balance it out a bit more? But it's not my tune....

Just doesn't seem to have the driving bass line synonymous with the Melbourne sound.

But I LOVE this idea. Such a perfect song to do this to. This is the type of remix that would be an instant purchase on Beatport for me.

Cheers man!

I think the kick punches alright but the bass was a bit if a piss off. I didn't wanna make it too subby but I didn't want it to lack either. I'll look into it again and have another listen. I compared it to a few other bounce tracks I got and the bass seems to fit with some of those but yeah, I actually had trouble with this for some reason :(

Hope you don't mind... I'm bored and got nothing else to do and wanted to see if what I was saying did actually make any improvements. I had a play around in Traktor, which isn't perfect, but just to get an idea. Took a loop out and played with the levels to hear the changes. Not perfect as I am doing it live. Gave it a bit more bass and treble and turned the mids down just a touch. The 2nd time I did it was probably better as you don't notice the change so much until it goes back the the normal track and notice how flat it sounds. I've marked the changes on the waveform.

In your DAW this would be easier to do and you can isolate the appropriate instruments.

having a listen now.

the bass is a little too over powering from the rest of the track and with those mids cut out it's become a little thin. i could've boosted the highs a little more as the top does stand out a bit better. i can see what you're saying, and i'll look into it. there's that mid-hi freq range that i could notch out a little
