Cupe Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 Too many DJs and Producers are selling themselves short on the daily. When you go on a massive soundcloud hunt and download a bunch of new shit for your upcoming mix, are you more likely to use this:Artist - Track Name.mp3or this:recorded-14-10-1.mp3Likewise, if you're going to index and listen to mixes in the future (or tell a mate about an awesome one you heard) are you more likely to tell them about this:DJ Name - Title of Mix.mp3or this:mix02.mp3The issue is clearly evident: You can't talk about shit if you have no idea who the fuck made it.Why screw yourself over from the ongoing promotion of your work by giving no-one any clue as to who produced the audio? How do I stop being retarded?Name your files properly.Create ID3v1 and ID3v2 and correctly format them (there's even spaces to link to your online profiles)Use cover images (Self Promotion #1 - The Importance of Cover Images)It's not even hard. BeatLeSS Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 Simple, easy steps to incorporate into your exporting workflow.I know I've downloaded a few mixes before which are named as retardedly as mentioned above - and they're by good acts/dj's as well!#ADJF love. Quote
eggssell Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 nice post cupe.i thumbed you though only because of the "artist - track name", it should be this way people!! so many savages do it the other way, and if you didnt know the artist preiously you spend your life thinking the song name is the artist Quote
