Tomy
I need firewire ports sadly at the time of my custom built bad boy lappy i didn't really think about it. I have a "SD/MMC/MS" slot, is that the PCMCIA slot? the adapter i'm looking for is something like this http://www.usbgear.com/Firewire_PCMCIA_cardbus/any one know anything at all about this stuff? as i really am not to computer minded when it comes to hardware / specs etc.
amd180
The SD/MMC/MS memory card slots are unfortunatly not PCMCIA slots. PCMCIA Slot are much larger and longer and are usually found on older laptops. To get Firewire onto your laptop maybe you could find some sort of USB to Firewire converter?? I have never really seen them around but its the only way i can think to get it to work???
eggssell
hey tomylike amd said pcmia are on older laptops, but chances are you have an express slot. it looks kinda the same but slightly smaller. on both my machines they are on the right hand side underneath the sd/mmc memory card thing (its probably on the other side of your cd/ dvd drive). one of mine has a pop out cover, the other one has a flap thing.anywho belkin have a few express slot firewire thins, one even gives you another usb adaptor. heres one of them from the aus belkin site. but the international belkin site had about two or three othershttp://www.belkin.com/au/IWCatProductPa ... _Id=461460
