Wow, what a week. After going to Oxykon's house and learning some fundamental mixing techniques that i skipped in my learning curve, I have last night discovered midi mapping and effects. Now some of you will laugh, but even after buying my dicers, I didnt fully grasp what they were doing! lol

I had bought them purely to trigger cue points, something i was already doing in serato. Now (dont laugh) I have realised that serato has built in fx! And that I can map these effects to spare buttons on my dicer. This is prob all simple stuff for you guys, but not for me. I had always had the (narrow minded) view that fx and looping was the domain of edm only! what a muppet i have been.

My mixing leaped forward last night, with the use of delay, and eq's i am now smashing genre's and bpms together I never thought possible.

I am now installing the serato app for ipad, to see what other cool things i can do!

:allthethings:

Yeah the only draw back with the dicers is they have no faders for the fx.

I have a m audio midi keyboard with some knobs on it but its to big to lug around.

I guess there is some dope little box with some knobs or faders i can find

to control efx in serato.....get two V-meters midi controllers and stick them on your 1200 turntables up the top by the pitch-fader or on the side's off your mixer.......$80 each and work dope with dicers

I have a friend that got two 1200 with dicers and v-meters....the v meters are mounted on the front off the 1200 by 10mm by 10mm 90 degree angle strips....the v meters sit flush with the 1200 deck and look like thay float in the air

so oxy you gonna be running seminars at the meat

Say what now O.o

lol i just happened to know that dubspot have a lot of good tutorials on midi mappings for controllers, as does DJ tech tools, although they specialise more with midi fighters as they're the guys that created them, i still haven't even used my Traktor properly yet, the meat will be my 1st time :P

Hey guys, I noticed last night that my dicers are playing midi keyboard tones when i hit the pads? i have no other software open at the time......where are these sounds coming from?????

I was actually gonna ask if you wanted to buy my mpd24. all the pads knobs and sliders you could need

I had these delusions of grandeur I would use them with tsp. then realised I don't use anything in traktor that would require it

I was then gonna sell it to jonny but we kind of got wires crossed (i was holding it for him till he was ready then didn't get his message till like three days after he was ready and he needed it #-o sorry again jonny :pale: )

and so its now been sitting there

Damn eggs, that thing is perfect, I cant afford any new equip atm, but how much do you want for it.

It would be nice to have a dedicated controller for serato. but im gonna play with maschine first.

Dude in surprised you didn't know that your machine would work :P

I had seen it done, but until I started playing with mapping on the dicers, i had no idea how they were doing it LOL

Such noob! wow
