LabRat
you can do it a few ways. can buy a USB sound card, or get a little 2ch behringer mixer and use the output of the mixer to your speakers and plug your computer into the mixer. those little berry mixers are really good

LabRat
Behringer mixer http://www.behringer.com/EN/Products/1002.aspxAs far as soundcards go, there's heaps around so just pick what you're after. Example, I use Cakewalk by Rolandhttp://www.rolandus.com/products/details/1089some use Native Instruments, M-Audio, Lexicon, Line6… just search around to find one that suits your needs
russell
You should try to use an external soundcard via usb/firewire if possible with balanced cables. you'll get better sound quality that way.
