Cupe Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 So this happened:Basically to be a DJ these days you just have to click 'I AM A DJ'.Thoughts? Quote
Kodiak Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 We should sabotage it. Get someone's nanna signed up and all join forces selling tickets for her. Then laugh as she gets a set there. Anyone got a cool nanna who'd be up for it? Quote
russell Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 I can't wait until DJ'ing isn't 'cool' again. Quote
Gandy Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 I can't wait until DJ'ing isn't 'cool' again. This, times a million, I think its close to being at peak "the in thing to do" so hopefully within the next 6-12 months something else will come along and take its place Quote
eggssell Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 until it comes back again and all you fellas are my age and realise it's not worth whinging about.djing has been the "in-thing" about three times now in my lifetime. in-thing as in it shows up in commercials; there are "toys or gadgets" catered for the masses; it's in every tv show and movie; "dj's" are superstar celebrities on every talk show; and all the stars are doing it.for me it was the commercial boom of hip hop in the late 80's; the commercialisation of raves late 90's (that was the time all us old schoolers hated how CD's was bringing djing to the masses); and now in the last 2 or 3 years. so seems to be a ten year cycle.so you see you all again about 2019-2021EDIT: actually the cd vs vinyl arguments, in my hood anyways, was circa 95-96. but im sure it was still raging by 99 Quote
eggssell Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 back on topic.despite what a sad state of affairs it is, I know some of y'all club dj's have already said that's how it is in the club scene right? i.e if you can pull a crowd you can get a gig.I guess these guys are taking that methodology to the fest scene. that blows.someone try to win it; and then get up and just press play on a premixed set and then make small movements not actually touching decks in protest of their ridiculous scheme.a la kurt cobain who was protesting not being able to play live on some tv show; so he stood there waving his hand in front of the strings but not actually hitting them to indicate he wasn't playing Quote
BeatLeSS Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 !watDude, little bit of IT background and just FLOOD the net with the code.Half tempted to do a campaign and literally do an hour set worth of requests. Quote

This, times a million, I think its close to being at peak "the in thing to do" so hopefully within the next 6-12 months something else will come along and take its placeam also looking forward to this as well ^and i agree with what eggs has said, looks like we will be going through that stage again sometime soon Quote

Not that there's anything wrong with that, just you're all talking shit. Quote
