To keep or not to keep ADJF Radio

No-one really listens to it.

Sometimes people mix on FNCP but that's getting even more rare lately.

I don't have the funds to keep renewing the contract for nobody to listen to it.

What are your thoughts, valued community members?

I FNCP it every week, I know for a fact I use it all the time for streaming, these days it's the only source of streaming that I have, I wouldn't want that to go

to be honest I havnt tuned in for a very long time and I miss most FNCP due to work. Its shame there was such a big push for this with people uploading mixes, live streaming, weekly spots, interviews etc but its kind of going by the wayside.

I was one of the original staff to help get this up and running with funding, just don't see it getting used much anymore, seems like no matter how much we try to promote, as with our normal competitions it just dies off

We've given anyone the option to stream live sets or even just give us mixes to upload for free promo and fuck all people jump at it.

I would of killed for this when I was starting out DJing. What can you do? I promo everything like a mother fucker.

Yeah that's the point I was trying to get too, honestly what other site offers what we do with such an awesome community

i think it was a farking great idea. and i really wish i had jumped on it. but my apathy is always the killer of all my ambitions....

i havent recorded a mix in over a year. i took my mpc out the other day when i was looking to buy a synth and realised i hadnt touched it since january this year. my diet is going to start every monday for the last twelve months. i still havent finished skate 3.

anyways, yeh i only really listen to it when i am inbetween things on friday and saturday.

so if it isnt particularly being used or bringing in people maybe its time to reinvest funds??

one idea could be regular mix releases on adjf soundcloud? like fortnightly. that way it can be promo'd, facebooked, tweeted, and generally whored out? good for the mixer and good for adjf?

i know you already fave everything thru the adjf soundcloud but actually doing regular releases along with maybe a blog update and interview may get some sort of a following. i dont know just shooting off at the cuff

just out of curiousity how much is it to renew? like if its costing you 500 a month out of your back pocket then fine, cut it. if its 30/month then im sure we can do a drive to keep it running

It's expensive enough to get rid of and definitely more expensive than a pro account on soundcloud (that we'd never have to remove mixes on).

I'm liking this idea more and more.

Yea I guess the soundcloud idea is making more sense, big ups to Gandy and caps.

Will the live streaming still be functioning and we just get rid of the radio loop?

A soundcloud account with a bunch of guest mixes or a podcast would be pretty good.

The thing is, there's still plenty of sites that allow for audio streaming for free. Mixlr, as far as I know, lets you stream just like the radio would - probably less hassle too. For the few people who do the streaming these days it's minimal effort to set up an account and download the program. Still has all the functionality of butt, the only thing I don't see is configurable bitrate.

tbh we can just sync mixes from the soundcloud.

but if someone REALLY has to stream live, scottie is right - there's plenty of other platforms. and free at that

Im guilty of not having listened to much, as i do spend alot of time on adjf at work.

Like eggs said, apathy, i never record my mixing and if i do i dont rate it highly enough for you guys to listen to it.

If its too much to maintain then maybe let it go, but i do hope to at least get some mixes on soundcloud if that the way you go.

Its a feature i havent seen on any other forums (from my dodgy memory) would be sad to see it go.

I barely have time to take a shit these days, but I'm always streaming tunes on the way to and from work.

I only ever listened to the radio when someone was playing live. Even then that was fairly rare.

I'm guilty of not tuning all the time either. Soundcloud seems to be the way to go. FNCP is fucking wicked though. We need to source another platform.

I hardly ever use the radio feature to be honest.

As has been mentioned above there are other free streaming services that could be utilised for FNCP so it's not worth the expense to keep it for that.
