is he the guy that ran the fuze nights at rockerfella's,

to be honest i would say forget about things done in the past and start fresh.

No idea, got a phone call from him and got most things cleared up. He has dyslexia hence the hard to understand writing.

We could start fresh, I'll try to organise a meeting sometime, or a start new thread with ideas we could integrate into what we could do this year.

I was told that this club had loads of equipment, turntables, PA system, computers ect. (I have to find them, but I was told by Andy that the bar possibly could have the equipment).

Here is the list of agenda's.

1. Find out as much information about the club by visiting the UQ Union to obtain all the documents. Including location of equipment, funds in the bank.

2. Organise UQ Market day

- Equipment

- People to help out at the table (Mixing, talking to people about the club and djing etc)

Basically we have hired out two tables to display information about our club, set up turntables to play music and to put some flyers.

There will be aproximately 50-100 other clubs, stores, companies there.

Throughout the day we will be persuading people to become a member ($2 fee or free) which can grant them free DJ lessons (Volunteer's to hold lessons), discounts, and cheaper / free access to events.

3. Organise the weekly gigs (Thursday) at the 'Red Room Bar' at the uni which was held when the club existed.

4. Discuss other events, plan and organise them.

A good way to encourage people to join your little DJ club could be to encourage newbies to practice manual DJing on their own using Traktor.

You can get a demo for Traktor 1.2.2 at: http://co.native-instruments.com/index. ... emoversion

You could give out CD's with this Traktor 1.2.2 Demo and these instructions below as well as mix CDs to promote your little DJ Club, you can only give these away- if you sell it you'll infringe on Copyright Law.

In the Master Control panel in the center, ensure the “CD Mode” button is highlighted as this will enable you to use the Repeating/Cue function just like a twin deck CD player.

I use the (Shift) up, down, (Ctrl) left and right arrows to scroll through my music collection and load into decks A and B. I then play (A on Deck A and Z on Deck B), pause (A, Z) to activate the Repeating/Cue function, then I adjust using the Repeating/Cue (Shift D/F on Deck A and Shift C/V on Deck B), then I Cue it to save its position (S on Deck A and X on Deck B), occasionally I’ll Beat-Step to the 16th Beat (D/F on Deck A and C/V on Deck B) and Cue it (S, X) from there. Then I SYNC either deck (G on Deck A and B on Deck B) Then I Cued/Play it by tapping the Cue button (S, X) then holding Cue and pressing Play (A,Z) then releasing the Cue button. If its not perfectly Beat-Matched I’ll use Nudge-Mode (H/J on Deck A and N/M on Deck B) to momentarily adjust the pitch to Beat-Match perfectly.

The function that most people use on a CDJ1000 is the Nudge function to beat-mix perfectly, so I guess all of the newbie DJs could practice PC DJing using the Nudge function on Traktor anywhere that they happen to be with their Laptop. They'll probably never DJ in a Club with Traktor but your DJ Club members can certainly use Traktor as a tool to practice with and this will encourage them to actively participate in your DJ Club.

Orite, I went up to the UQ Union and asked about the club... basically they have no documents whatsoever and nothing about it.

Whoever ran it last, took away around 10 - 20 grand worth of equipment and money, unless it's stored in the uni bar 'Red Room' which I'm going to find out later. The guy said he only remembers abour $80 left in the bank account.

I'm going to organise a meeting sometime this week or next week to organise shit out, I will send PM's out.

Still trying to confirm / persuade with the uni whether we can play music on market day (busiest day at uni of the year).

I'm also trying to include animation, VJing, graphic design, digital publishing, film making, programming, 3D art and a whole lot of other creative pursuits into the club since its under electronic arts.

So if you got contacts in Brisbane and their willing to help, hit me up.
