AN EPIC COMPETITION WITH FRESH AS FUCK PRIZES

Rules:

You must use all tracks and acapellas (link below) in your mix. No extra tracks or acapellas is permitted.

You must use a discernible chunk of both acapellas in your mix.

Any effects etc and equipment can be used.

Submission:

Due date for submission is midnight 15 September 2013. Voting will be open until midnight 30 September 2013.

The winner will be announced on 1 October 2013.

Mixes must be uploaded to your soundcloud and tagged with 'ausdjforums' 'ADJF' and 'overtureclothing'.

Email a link to your mix to info@ausdjforums.com - make sure you allow widgets etc for embedding in the voting thread.

Tracks are provided for purposes of this competition only.

Format:

The mixes will be put up in a competition submissions thread on ausdjforums.com with voting in place.

The winners will be determined by number of votes. Judges reserve rights to the final decision (ie. in a tie).

Anti-cheating measures are in place; if you cheat, you forfeit.

2nd: $20 voucher at OvertureClothing.com & Four ADJF Lanyards + Stickers

As long as you end up with a DJ mix, how you fuck with the tracks and aca's is up to you.

You just can't introduce anything outside of that .zip of supplied media.

I'm gonna give this a go with Ableton and the APC40 I think. Should be a good way to get some exposure to it! Be ready for some Glitched mashups, especially with these acapellas.

Got my mix almost sorted.... Just for the life of me cannot work out where to fit in the "Bring out the Devil" acapella?

Other than that I am fairly loving the song selection. They work well with each other.

Who's still in on this? Seems like every comp or challenge round here gets lot's of initial interest but few actually follow through.

Any clues what you are doing with the accapellas? To me they just don't fit anywhere. I have what I think is one of my best mixes but when I try to squeeze them in it detracts from the mix rather than adds to it like they should.

I haven't played with accapellas before so not sure if it my skill level is the problem.

Keep in mind you can manipulate them how you want, as long as they're still legible

I use traktor so i chopped the acca's up into the remix decks and kinda drop bits here and there with the F1.

i have the Sun & Moon acca working in pretty well. but yeah still changing where to put the other one.

had my first go at this tonight and trainwrecked it

i actually really like some of the songs. that rasputin track is so gusta.

i too am struggling with the accapellas. i think its going to be alittle difficult slotting them in there without a midi device. i chopped them up using hot cue banks which allowed me some freedom but still pretty limited. like its abit half arsed when i know i have to get out of the accapella track to mix to the actual next track so its a challenge.

we will see how we go.
