Headphone Monitoring Trouble

Have been djing for quite a while now, but it seems every time i go out and play at a loud venue or club i seem to loose my mixes due to the sheer volume of the sound system, i can beatmatch both one ear cupped with monitors and in headphones and usually have my headphones cranked pretty loud with sound but large amount of volume seems to overwhelm me . Has anyone got any tips or methods in which they use when playing in a large club with monitors and a loud sound system.

tbh, i just put my headphones on so both cans are over both ears when out.

never have a problem.

what type of headphones do you have? maybe need to upgrade to something with better sound cancellation?

you can also look into buying some high quality ear plugs.

not some cheap foam things.

should also be able to turn the booth monitor down from the mixer too.

Although, the type of headphones can make a difference regardless

Earplugs in, monitors off, headphones on, enjoy.

Oh decent headphones will make so much difference, get some HD25s if you dont have them, great noise cancellation and nice and tight on your ears.

Yeah i have purchased some HD25s recently , i suppose maybe i have had my headphones and monitors up too loud , not quite sure still working on it . I used to just mix in my can both ears over but i found my mixes could get sloppy sometimes and a bit disorientating .

thanks for the tips i might go back to just mixing in the headphones, but when switching from house to playing hip hop that can be a real bitch
