Sound proof?

egg cartons wont sound proof neither will carpet. there are some foams you can get that work well, but some get quite pricy.

egg cartons i think are good at dispersing the sound so the sound hits the egg carton then the sound boucnes of in heaps of different directions which helps the sound die out a little quicker but you wont hear much diffecance in your room. might help any reverb.

carpet..... meh. might help but i cant see how its only about 10mm thick maybe if its shag pile it might make a big differance. if your going to use carpet i would say that its the under lay of thin foam that works the most with carpet.

FYI i'm a drafter / building designer so have some experince with sound proofing etc.

yah i could probably do that.

you would have to give me a good idea of what your wanting, i did draw up a booth for a club once, well a hanging table.

Awesome I'll put up the dimensions later on. What program do you use or do ou hand draw it? I want it to be cheap if I get it built so what material is cheap but looks decent ? I asked my teacher and he said best hing to go is plywood because it's cheapest give us your thoughts :)

Ps-on I touch

A muso once told me that using insulation bats of a particular type is also good for sound proofing. Other than that I read somewhere that lead is the best solution but that wouldnt be cheap.

yep, acustic wall battens, they go inside you walls in the frame. great for sound proofing so you wont hear anything out side the room. but just having plaster board on the inside will cause your sound to bounce around like crazy..... but thats another topic.

I use a few different programs for drafting.. mainly AutoCAD but it'll all be saved off as a pdf

Ply wood is ok...... strong and light but you couldn't build the whole thing out of this you'd still need a frame. timber is still probably your best bet.
