Cee Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 So I am not sure if this is the right place to post but I am going to do a gig in a park soon and I will be using my mates generator to power my little lucus smart system mixer and laptop. So what I want to know is will a surge protected power board be enough to protect my gear form power surges. Quote
Jarred Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 Is it a reputable brand generator or a cheaper chinese piece of junk? The only reason i ask is i wouldn't worry to much about power surges, plus more powerboards come equipped with them these days anyway... what you might to be worried of is brown outs or too low voltage which can be an issue on cheaper generators... there isn't too many ways to get around that cheaply but if your only running your mixer and laptop these would both be running on a transformer correct?like 240v down to like 12~24dc or something like that because if thats the case the lower voltage issue will be extremly low of an issue its only when something requires a constant 230~240v source and it fluctuates it can cause damage to the equipment Quote
Cee Posted July 7, 2013 Author Posted July 7, 2013 It would be the laptop and the small sound system. Quote
djbater Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 I used to DJ regularly on a couple of boats, and they had this thing that stored power for 15 seconds to the DJ decks to stop blackouts effecting the music. Can't rememeber what it is called though... but was just an extension lead with a box on it. Quote
