SonicBoom
Hey was interested to see what everyone's thoughts were on the topic of playing to your time slot? Have a gig where I'm opening the room at 11 but the club is open from 10 would this been to early to be playing electro?
russell
you should always play something suitable to the club and time slot you have. always.
GREMM1S
Should always aim to play to your slot. Can really hurt a dancefloor if it peaks too early or takes too long to get going. But in regards to your question regarding electro, it will depend upon the actual music policy of the club, i know some club which would open with electro as they move into heavy electro, dub and moombah etc later on. SonicBoom
Thanks for the tips guys thinking of starting with bouncy stuff and building from there
GREMM1S
Would certainly think bouncy electro/lighter bangers would go down well.
mattus123
what are the later acts of the night are,if your the first person playing id probs skip the whole normal tech/deep opening songs, ive never been to laundry that early though tbh so i cant really say, it does vary from club to club. If it is going to peak at dub though, i would say ur probs safe to play a little electro, not too banging though

SonicBoom
Also last time I played there we had the 12-130 slot and the guy before played the likes of bbbs, generation 303 and a few other similar tracks but not sure about whether that is too heavy too early
mattus123
cant say i know those guysjust go in with a varirety of tracks so that u can adapt to what u need to playand if in doubt play lighter as opposed to heavier imothere is nothing worse than the next DJ having to jump on the decks to a peaking crowd when they should still be warming up
SonicBoom
Thanks for the tips guys went with a few lighter tracks then threw a few heavier ones towards the end was a pretty quiet night being last weekend was a long weekend but still had an awesome time
