OR

I can get one Behringer BCF 2000 & a LaunchPad for $650 + $700 for Ableton 8....( software )

2 completely different things...

1. breaks is not spelt brakes...

2. mpc is an AWESOME piece of kit.

3. Ableton will take you further producer wise.

Use an MPC, see if you like it, they are EXTREMELY fun to play with...

Then try out ableton, its a long road but it is worth it if you stick to it. :D

I would get ableton :)

8O:pale::oops::oops:;):D ...

EDIT..I think the Ableton road is the way I'm going to go down..

A friend has a MPC 2500...it fun to play..[ but its $3000 + ]

thats why I was looking at the MPC 1000

the MPC 1000 looks to limited for $2000...I would out grow it quick

I like the idea off the Behringer BCF 8 100mm long motorised faders & the 8 push button endless rotary encoders...& the 64 pad/button grid on the Launchpad will give me more than enough control over Ableton...

I think it will just do more & be more fun to play......& its like $500 cheeper

Fot this instance, definately software would be the choice. With drum trigger pads there is way more you can do with software based, especially with the launchpad. However hardware is the shit when it comes to synths, keyboards and hardware effects too, it allows more creativity I think, when your sitting at your computer with your midi keyboard you can get board and annoy, but with a mad keyboard synth with no computer screen in front of you I can sit for like hours just playin around and you get some pretty sick ideas, its just more organic, and hardware effects and compressors just look mad :)

ok...your right ChevChelios...I took your advice

I also think hardware is better than software...for my workflow

so I went looking for a peace off hardware that had nice pad's for sampling

motorised faders for mixing

had good sounding Synths ,Drums and bass sounds

and is easy to use and fit with all my other shit + a USB port so I can use software to CHOP up sample's

I ended up getting a Roland MC 808 Sampler GrooveBox

http://www.rolandus.com/products/produc ... uctId=766#

I plug my Edirol PCR 500 midi Keyboard controller to the MC 808

I play Synths & Bass lines in my 808 with the PCR 500 and drums & samples with the pads + I can use the 808 software to chop up samples in real time

Dude mc 808 are so sick, I've wanted one forever, there is a mad video of some guys live jam on one of those, Ill find it in a tick, serious cash though...

That is a great setup though, what sequencer are you recording too? Or does the 808 have a hard disk?

I was looking for a Roland MV 8800...

the mc 808 has its own sequencer...

it's got 512 mb memory (good for about 102 minute )

+ I have just put a 2 gig CompactFlash card ( good for about 4 hours )....but I can go up to 32 gig ( good for about 14 hours )

PS...I have a old keyboard here I'm selling you might like

it's bad ass keyboard...the best old keyboard out there ( better than Korg , better than a Moog ).... ;););)

i'm a hardware type of guy. i've got 2 synths and a old school drum machine (only for live stuff)

i dont think $2000 for a mpc1000 is a great deal though. you can buy it brand new for around $1500 - $1600
