ThatPartyGuy Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 So yeah, i'm kinda been lazy and haven't done much practice in a while and pushing myself to do some and learn some new tricks.what do you do when you're in the slump, lazy or just cbf moods? Quote
yizzle Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 I have a few mixes that after I hear them I am fully charged and ready to go.Same goes for tracks if im feeling flat in production. Lucky they always seem to work tho... Quote
Mitch Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 Already been mentioned, however:-listen to/watch dope dj mixes-shop for new tunes Quote
mattus123 Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 New tunes is THE answerNothing will get u more motivated than buying a bunch of tracks that get you going Quote
ThatPartyGuy Posted June 2, 2013 Author Posted June 2, 2013 cheers for ideas.been getting new tracks and get motivated to mess around. Just need to set aside a few hours a week i guess and stick to it lol Quote
Jarred Posted June 2, 2013 Posted June 2, 2013 as everybody else has been saying new tunes, try set yourself a goal like a monthy mix/podcast which will push you to always be trying to do something different, even doing a weekly radio show.Definitely seeing live gigs is what pushes me as well.I know last year i had a several month break but since stereo last year provided i have the time (work) ill be mixing for 1~2hrs every 2nd day or so... and usually on thurs through to sunday ill do even more Quote
ThatPartyGuy Posted June 2, 2013 Author Posted June 2, 2013 back when i was playing every sat at a place near me, always practice 2 - 3 times a week but yeah. might be a good idea to try and push myself to do a monthly mix or something. Quote
OxyKon Posted June 2, 2013 Posted June 2, 2013 Already been mentioned, however:-listen to/watch dope dj mixes-shop for new tunesPretty much this as well Quote
DJSocialApp Posted June 4, 2013 Posted June 4, 2013 Watch a few videos of your favourite artists online... Always seems to do the trick Quote
Adrian Posted June 4, 2013 Posted June 4, 2013 If you can find some way to get extrinsic motivation it will help a lot (rather than trying to motivate yourself). For example, you could make a commitment to your friend that you will give them $5 if you don't make a mix by x date. Use the fear of loss to your advantage. Quote
yizzle Posted June 4, 2013 Posted June 4, 2013 ^ that could turn out a little frustrating though, and maybe not come up with a good mix?= seriously frustratedbut its an idea all the same. motivation by loss. Quote
